Cobs Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 [feck off, Poolfrog.] Looking like the last time for Robbie to play in front of the Kop this weekend, and barring a late starring role in Athens, his last ever appearance for the club (wouldn't it be great for him to get the winner over there?) if you are off this summer Robbie, i'd just like to say thanks for everything, the 4 minute hat-trick, the derby goals, stunners v Schmeichel both home and away, the beauties in the Finals of 2001, all the other goals, the line sniffing, the doCKers T-Shirt, the daft hair cuts, the noseband, the general pissing about and everything else you've done for the club and us fans over the past 14 yrs or so. Not always a perfect professional or role model but one helluva player, so often the shining light in some darker times. If it is to be goodbye i hope you get the chance to say goodbye properly this time and the fans can show their appreciation to you too.
Bigal Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 As a side issue, whats your favourite robbie fowler goal??
Boca Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 My second favourite Liverpool player of all time. In his prime an outstanding player. Hopefully he has one more goal in him and he gets it in Athens.
Bigal Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 is that the chip mike? where he barges neville off the ball? I have always loved the second goal in the first 4-3 against newcastle when he runs on to it and hammers it bottom corner and the 2 goals v villa when one he ran away from the ball and chested it and volleyed it top corner in a FA cup semi final and the other when he made staunton look daft and hammered it in
Raj Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 That goal V Villa, where he nutmegged Staunton with a backheel, collected the ball and smashed it in from 25 yards.
theredfella Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 2nd against schmeichal or the one v bran bergen. Agreed. The one against Villa when he knocked it through Stan's legs was class as well.
Mike Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 is that the chip mike? where he barges neville off the ball? I have always loved the second goal in the first 4-3 against newcastle when he runs on to it and hammers it bottom corner and the 2 goals v villa when one he ran away from the ball and chested it and volleyed it top corner in a FA cup semi final and the other when he made staunton look daft and hammered it in yeah, schmeichal just falls backwards on his fat a*** as it flies over his head
fred milne Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 A couple of other memorable goals: The second against Utd in December 95 where McManaman crosses, Fowler puts the defender on his ars*e and seals the win. The winning goal in the 2nd 4-3 against Newcastle where he heads in from a cross from Stig.
Bigal Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 robbie getting his toe end on a cross from Stan Collymore at a goodison derby, equalising with 3 mins left, not a great goal as such, but one that makes me smile!
anny road Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 thanks God I like the one v Villa in the Cup Semi there was one agaoinst Bolton at home where he hits it dead early..great finish... obv the ones at OT v United and the one where he mullers Stan...
cymrococh Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 yeah, schmeichal just falls backwards on his fat a*** as it flies over his headdeffo the best.
Mr Makaveli Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 yes, a 2nd goodbye to Robbie. cheers for the years.
Behind Enemy Lines Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Point of order - all proposals need to have corresonding youtube clips - it's only fair
Superjay Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 All this talk of protesting at the weekend could have been put into proper use as to putting up a mosaic to robbie. A proper goodbye.
Bigal Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 deffo the best. he did that to schmeical 3 times I think, not many players have done that to him once, nevermind three times
Mikael Akerfeldt Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 My favourite is the one at West Ham, 99-00 I think in the yellow kit, fantastic volley over his shoulder.
Bigal Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 arsenal at home, when he fell on his a*** and still battered it past manninger from about 30 yards
yellow jumper Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I like the one v Villa in the Cup Semi that one always sticks in my head. could have been the point at which he seemed most unstoppable.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 a truly loveable player the only shame about the Mancs not getting through to the final is that we won't get to see Robbie score the winner and give them a 6-finger salute
AntM Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 another incomparable effort was when he placed a casual overhead kick vs Charlton (away) last game of the season that clinched the CL spot in the Treble season
Cobs Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 Looking back now, i think my favourite was his goal in the UEFA Cup final, maybe not his best technically but to come a few days after him sulking about after missing out in Cardiff and to be on the bench again - then when it looked like we were throwing away the trophy from a 3-1 lead we really need a moment of inspiration to lift the team and he gave us that, it was also a fine finish and showed what a skillfully 2-footed player he was.
