Andrei Voronin says he is excited by the prospect of making a summer move to Liverpool and has started English lessons to ease his transition.

The Ukraine forward will leave Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer in the summer, having put his name to a four-year deal with The Reds.

With Liverpool chief Rafa Benitez continually on the lookout for fresh options to boost his squad, Voronin is aware he will have to battle to prove himself on Merseyside.

It is a challenge he is relishing as he wants to ensure Liverpool are pushing for honours.

"It will be difficult coming to England, and so I will study English intensively, so that I am ready for the challenge," he told the Daily Mirror.

"I had thought about changing leagues for quite a long time. I wanted a change of environment, to discover something new, so with my Leverkusen deal coming to an end my agent began to look for options in Italy, Spain or England.

"There were some interesting offers even before the 2006 World Cup but we decided not to hurry. When we started talking about Liverpool, who I could join on a free transfer, everything clicked into place.

"I am excited about England, the football there is very exciting, and it is a challenge that suits me.

"I am ready to give everything to be a success at Liverpool."

Hope you know that includes being scapegoat-in-chief Andrei lad.

I think he'll either be a complete flop or a complete success. He's come to Liverpool realising that we could now easily buy someone "better" if he doesn't perform.

He's gonna be under a lot of pressure so will hopefully cope with it and prove the doubters wrong.

the only reason he would be under huge pressure, is cos people on various forums, have decided that if he isn't a top class talent, and banging in goals every week, he's a complete failure.

If people see him for what he is being brought here for, then he'll be ok.

But that won't happen, I realise that :D

Nah, i don't think he'll be a so-so.

So-so's only occur when they aren't played in their rightful position or not utilised the way they were utilised in their previous clubs.

Quality bit of reporting from the Mirror again there. He said this about 2 f*cking months ago.

Along with the Milito 'exclusive' which was about two years old, they really must be short of stuff to write about at the moment if they are re-hashing comments from several months past by a not particularly well known free transfer signing.

They'll be looking for interviews from local Sunday league players next and claiming exclusive inside knowledge that Liverpool are interested in Neil Ruddock...

Poor bloke, he has no idea he has p*ssed on everyones chips because we all want two E'to / Torres / Owen / Tevez / Villa type strikers and we don't want to sell Kuyt or Crouch.

Yup, thats what I'm trying to say. A bit hard to explain, but what I'm trying to say is that because we've raised the bar of expectation on our players so high (because we need to get our ass into gear in the league) that even a "So-so" is considered a failure.

We need winners.

Voronin will either be a success ..or a failure/so-so.

The guy is coming for free and with what appears to be a good attitude. The majority of people have set the bar so low for him that he could well surprise a lot of people. If he doesnt perform the we will be able to sell him on and make of profit off the transfer fee. Of course, there is his wages to consider and i dont know what he is going to be one.

So in other words, he could do well or not so well. Quite an insight ;)

9 goals and 7 assists in his 19 Bundesliga starts this season isn't bad.

His 29 games include 10 substitute appearances from which none of his goals or assists have come.

He has been booked on each of his last 3 appearances. 6 yellows for the season.

frankly, if we have Kuyt, voronin, Owen, Tevez as our four front line strikers I would be happy.
