johngibo YPC Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Raotl are organising a protest on Sunday for those who feel that the ticketing for the final maybe hasn't been handled in the way it should have been. (put in the nicest way possible)details here if anyone is interestedhttp://forum.raotl.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=52415
Rico Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I don't really see how LFC could have handled it much differently. They could have given ST holders priority over people like myself, but that's about it, isn't it? The root problem is the pitiful ticket allowance we've got from UEFA. Less than a quarter of the seating capacity of the stadium, judging by the Wikpedia page on the stadium that says it has a capacity of more than 72000 if configured that way. Of course, I'm assuming that our fair allocation of available tickets were made available through the ballot. If indeed a large number did get given out to corporate hospitality types, then that's definitely something to protest about. You can sing my song from the ballot thread.
johngibo YPC Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 A few people think that we could have been a bit tougher on UEFA A few people think the ballot sounds very suss (with about 1 in 10 getting tickets?)and would like to know EXACTLY where the 17,000 tickets went And a few people used to think that we were a club who was run for the fans and now feel a bit naive If you think the club has done everything they could to ensure the most deserving people go to athens then thats up to youI disagree
Cobs Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 If you think the club has done everything they could to ensure the most deserving people go to athens then thats up to youI disagreewith a mere 17,000 allocation there is no way the club can ensure that countless people who deserve to go will get a ticket UEFA are to blame here, not the club.
Rico Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 No, I agree they could have done some things differently. Aside from the crap allocation, the real issue for me is that of how many of us were in the 6-credit ballot, how many have 7 or more, and how many tickets from our allocation were available through the ballot. If we had 17000, less 4000 for 7+ credits and only 5000 of that 13000 went into the ballot, I'll be f***ing livid. I suppose it's as much a demand for transparency as it is a protest.
Lee W Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 A few people think that we could have been a bit tougher on UEFA Hard to judge that really. A few people think the ballot sounds very suss (with about 1 in 10 getting tickets?)and would like to know EXACTLY where the 17,000 tickets went You and half the 25k who thought they had a one in two chance. However, we'll never know. Feckin' suspect though...

PLY Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Apparently nhearly 5000 went to people who werer ex-shareholders but I'd wager the majority of them are season ticket holders as well and would have qualified twice. If they were enterd into the ballot there's a good chance that there are people knocking about with 2 tickets who only need one.
cymrococh Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 If we had 17000, less 4000 for 7+ credits and only 5000 of that 13000 went into the ballot, I'll be f***ing livid.Where's the evidence for that?

Guest Snorky Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 With a ballot, isn't that open to public scrutiny ? Can't the City Council look into how it was handled ? Can't individuals involved in the ballot by law see how it was handled ?
anny road Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 the least they shoulkd do is to release details of numbers
Barnesy_10 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 not sure what people expect the club to do after a protest takes place?Recall all tickets and redo it? No chance... I don't think the club have gone out of their way to f*** people over, yeah its obviously pissed the majority off, but I can't see UEFA bowing down to Liverpools insistance of receiving more tickets...
Rico Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 The other aspect I'd forgotten is that the whole ballot idea is flawed insofar as everyone with 6 credits was automatically entered, whether or not they'd have applied for a ticket if they had to turn up in person, sit on the phone for 3 hours, press F5 all morning etc., and regardless of all those who would never have applied as they simply can't afford to travel all the way to Greece for a footy match. There are bound to be people that have "won" a ticket that can't take it up. Will they accept it and try to pass it on the black market? Will it go back into the pot? if it does, what happens to it then? Can I have it? =)
Guest Snorky Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 the least they shoulkd do is to release details of numbers one of the irate fans in Eindhoven said they worked for the council and that they would look into how so many fans who had never been to a Liverpool European away game before managed to get tickets. Heard nothing more though.
Lee W Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Why will we never know?If we demand answers then surely they have to give them?Or am i being naive again NoNoYes This isn't from my perspective, but I'm still amazed that ex-shareholders get tickets.
Rico Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 not sure what people expect the club to do after a protest takes place? Take note, and come up with a better plan for next year. Maybe carry over a credit for those that missed out this year, if possible. That way we'd be one rung up when it comes to buying CL tickets next season, and given that, anyone that goes to 6 matches will have 7 credits, and may be in a better position to go to next year's final. 'cause we're going to get there.
Leo No.8 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 The UEFA allocation was a disgrace, but the ballot numbers clearly don't add up either. The touts and companies selling tickets for ten times their value seem to have done alright though eh. Good old 'UEFA Family' - it's authorised corruption.
Spike Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 the least they shoulkd do is to release details of numbers and open up Anfield on the night with a f*** off giant big screen and subsidised beer prices for those who missed out in the ballot.
Rico Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Where's the evidence for that? There isn't any, and I'm not saying that's what has happened. I'm just plucking numbers out of the air; the point is that being told the numbers is the first step (the transparency). Getting angry about how the allocation was dished out comes next if it's warranted.
Gunga Din Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 loyalty for finals should be based on attendance of all competitions. they should simply see how many matches a season people have been to and work from there. maybe even do it on a rolling 3 or 5 season term
Cobs Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 as a matter of interest anyone know out of whose allocation would LFC staff/players families tickets come from ?
Rico Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 and open up Anfield on the night with a f*** off giant big screen and subsidised beer prices for those who missed out in the ballot. Standing on the Kop watching the match on a big screen with thousands of other Kopites would ease my pain a little.
jon_hall Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 as a matter of interest anyone know out of whose allocation would LFC staff/players families tickets come from ? The 17000.
