Ginu Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 9m. Mancs keen to trigger it. cue the possibilities... Owen to replace Bellamy for 1m
stressederic Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 For £9m we could do a lot worse. Just to get this 40+ page monster started.
Maldini Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I think he'll give the barcodes a year and then move on
Andy @ Allerton Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I think he should go to the Mancs - his transformation to the dark side would then be complete!
New York Red Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I don't think he'll ever be the player he was or will get close to it. It's time for everyone to move on.
Martian Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 If the Mancs sign Owen then we should sign Von Horsey. That's not a joke either. The man is playing great and he's experinced in the Premiership. Probably he'll be better than Eto'o.
BG Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 I don't think he'll ever be the player he was or will get close to it. It's time for everyone to move on. My view exactly. Having said that it would be horrible to see him scoring for United. Really horrible.
Michael Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I think it sums him up when after two years at a club, the article can list all his games for them in a footnote.
Zoob Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Putting Owen on 110,000k a week would be a typical 'Newcastle' thing to do
growler Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 signing him for 9mil would be a bargain for us. especially if we pay him less than what we did when he WAS with us. He had a three year break and will now be ready to get back into it. I would love to see him with Kuyt I think they would work well. Think of it as a 3 year loan, where he was able to rest, and come back refreshed. If he came back to us, all forgiven. If he goes to the dark side, all forgotten.
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 (edited) Wrong forum. Who gives a f*ck? This should be in the General Football forum, or let's start a Three Lions Forum and put it in there. Edited May 9, 2007 by B.A.Baracus

Probably he'll be better than Eto'o. I like that idea. With Thierry Henry alongside him we'll have devastating combo. And if we can add Crespo into the mix ...
John am Rhein Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 We should sign him back. He's the most natural finisher we've had since Ian Rush.
Rimbeux Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I think he'll give the barcodes a year and then move on I don't. This has all come directly from him, he wants out now Dickinson
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 We should sign him back. He's the most natural finisher we've had since Ian Rush. The only thing he's got in common with Rushie is his nationality.
John am Rhein Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 The only thing he's got in common with Rushie is his nationality. That and his supreme footballing ability. He's God.
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 (edited) "Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafael Benítez could spend a long time scouring the transfer market before they will find a striker with a career ratio of 0.51 goals per game for that sort of money." What boll0cks. Defoe's on 0.41 goals per game, not far behind boy wonder mr england. Edited May 9, 2007 by B.A.Baracus
Stevie H Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 he's still one of the top goalscorers in world football. eto'o, villa, van nistelrooy, henry, owen. he's not out of his depth in that kind of company and is far more proven than a huntelaar or torres. i'd still have him back in a heartbeat.
drdooom Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I think he'll give the barcodes a year and then move on I don't think he'll give anyone except himself anything.
Will Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 The only thing he's got in common with Rushie is his nationality. One of them won 73 caps for a country the other is not qualified to represent "Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafael Benítez could spend a long time scouring the transfer market before they will find a striker with a career ratio of 0.51 goals per game for that sort of money." What boll0cks. Defoe's on 0.41 goals per game, not far behind boy wonder mr england.Erm, that is a 24% better ratio!

Nerik Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 9-10m would be worth it if you ask me. FFS we spent 14.2m on Cisse.
psl Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I think we should get him in. That Times article makes his position pretty clear. Question is, would he choose us over the Mancs?
