Guest Ant Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Sky Sports Sir Bobby Robson has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer for the fifth time. Robson , who is currently working as International Football Consultant with Republic of Ireland, has been battling the disease on and off for the last 15 years. The former England boss underwent surgery last August, but he will not go under the knife this time. Robson has vowed to fight the disease and carry on with his life as normal. "Of course, it's not the greatest news I've ever had but I have fought hard throughout my life and I will continue to fight," Robson told the Mail on Sunday. "I will battle as I've always done. "My last operation in August was a success but this time the doctors have said they can't operate. "The good news is that they are measuring the nodules in my lungs in millimetres rather than centimetres! "That is encouraging and we are hopeful the treatment will keep it under control. "I've been advised to keep busy and active, and that's what I will be trying to do whenever possible." _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Always had alot of time for him, top man, hope he is back on his feet soon!
Duncan Disorderly Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 What a nightmare! These things always happen to the good guys. His age mightn`t help, but I really hope he`ll be ok.
Earl Hafler Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I hope the great man beats it again. One of my heroes.
charlie clown Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 His age mightn`t help, but I really hope he`ll be ok. quite the opposite - his age may help a great deal - cancer in younger people spreads much quicker because the cells are much more able to regenerate quickly, in older people the reprocessing rate is so much slower it can often take cancer a lot longer to spread.
