New York Red Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I know nothing has been published officially, but has there been anything published elsewhere?
fyds Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I've asked around almost anyone I can think of who may know something/someone who may have access to etc - not a sausage. We'll just have to wait.
New York Red Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 Sort of exciting really. I hope we can get some really innovative things in the stadium which haven't been seen before. Hopefully the kind of impact that Camden Yards made when it was first built. A state of the art stadium that aesthetically looks like it has been there forever. 74,000 capacity, loads of luxury boxes, big rentable low cost standing areas, a 15,000-18,000 capacity Kop that dominates one end of the stadium, and a really cool looking assymetrical design.
fyds Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 As anyone here can tell you who gets up to the 'pool or goes to the games, there are so many rumours doing the rounds, some more fantastic and plain silly than others - perhaps the reality lies somewhere in between. To use an analogy, I'm beginning to think it will be a bit like a Top Gear feature - the original design was an on the whole an excellent workhorse, 2.5 ltr, 220bhp engine, good handling, good solid construction if you want reliability, improved performance on the older model... Then there is the upgrade - basically the same chassis, but with a dirty great 5ltr, turbo charged engine giving 450 bhp, slipped diff, ALB, 4 wheel drive, the latest navicom, leather seats rear-facing cameras and sunroof.
Maldini Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Hicks said the other day that they've only finished the plans for the inside and are still working on the outside.
Guest Prongsy Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I'm a bit obssessed by the new stadium, Can't wait for plans to start showing up, everyone that has seen them are going nuts about them. It's going to be an awesome stadium.
Frosty Jack Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Hicks also said this week that they didn't want to start from scratch. The original designs always confused me, you had Parry saying there would be a kop, but then looking at the renditions, there clearly wasn't one. It wouldn't have surprised me if they'd originally let the architects go ahead without mentioning it.
Guest oyvmong Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I know nothing has been published officially, but has there been anything published elsewhere? I don't think we'll see any dramatical changes to the design. And to be quite honest, I'm rather dissapointed about the design of the stadium. It lacks distinction. Up until recent years, you were always able to regognize a stadium as soon as you saw it on the telly. The new stadiums that are being built looks all the same, and if the new Anfield is going to look like what we have seen from the animations so far, it looks almost exactly the same as Arsenals and Benficas stadiums. Arsenal: Benfica: The New Anfield:

What a bizarre post. Those animations were done years ago. G&H, Parry and Liverpool council have all talked about a redesign and an enormous kop.
Guest Ant Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Just build the Millenium Stadium Again with a few modifications, Sorted
Sion Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 (edited) http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=240309 Some very unofficial proposals on page 11. :-) They're ugly and stupid. Someone does mention Soldier Field on the next page though ( http://www.kennyconstruction.com/images/SoldierFieldDone.jpg ), that's how I imagine the stand layout may look like. If we end up with an 18,000 single tier kop at one end as the focal point of the whole stadium (as rumoured) which would be 50% bigger than our current kop (12,000) then that in itself would be enough to make it a distinctive looking ground - and BETTER than our old ground given that the overall capacity will be at least 16,000 higher and still expandable. Of course we could have opted for a design like the Emirates - the same all the way round or like OT - almost the same all the way round but with ugly looking 'upper quadrants' as a bonus.

Someone does mention Soldier Field on the next page though ( http://www.kennyconstruction.com/images/SoldierFieldDone.jpg ), that's how I imagine the stand layout may look like. Yep that would be my guess, something along these lines with a roof: I just hope the stands aren't too far way from the pitch - are there planning regulations that make that difficult now? The stands should be as near to the pitch as we can make them. Edited May 6, 2007 by Paisley
Guest Marshy Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 That's a fine looking stadium Paisley - i'd happily have something like that but with a roof and with the fans closer to the pitch - OR i'd have something like this (with a roof) on 3 sides of our new ground with an 18,000 single tier kop at one end as the focal point of the ground; Boca Juniors 'La Bombonera'.
New York Red Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 I just found this quote from HKS. Architect HKS see the new stadium taking the form of an orchestral theatre, with The Kop taking centre stage towering over the pitch and other stands."

Arsenal: Benfica: The New Anfield: It looks nothing like arsenals and benficas. For a start arsenals and benficas have very distinct tiers for all round the stadium, the initial designs of ours do not.
San Diego Red Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I quite like the exterior of the Allianz Arena. Wouldn't mind that at Stanley Park.
Hodgson for Chelsea Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Just make the Kop f*cking massive and near the pitch, the rest will follow like tick follows tock.
Falconhoof Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 I quite like the exterior of the Allianz Arena. Wouldn't mind that at Stanley Park. Surely thats the most important thing isn't it ? As long as it looks impressive from the outside.
