No thread on here for the long awaited showdown?

 

Amazing story with Mayweather's old man training De La Hoya, but not for this fight as he wanted $2 million apparently. They both pulled no punches in interviews screened last night on sky, with the old man saying he wasn't getting any respect and that his son needed a reality check. The cocky kid reckoned his old man was being a jerk.

 

Let's hope it happens, but I think De La Hoya's best chance is to KO him fairly early, as he is getting old and making the weight doesn't get any easier. Mayweather on the other hand has always looked like he could go up a weight or two without much problem, but he has never been hit as hard as he will be tonight.

 

The fight will be a classic encounter between the fighter and the boxer, which has the makings of a classic. My prediction is De La Hoya in the 5th or 6th. If it goes to points don't bet against a controversial draw.
