He'll more than likely get some of the game against Charlton, that will probably put him in contention for Athens. However, does he deserve a shirt in the final ?

Morally he doesn't, but if Rafa feels that he improves the squad/team then he has to play. I would though feel sorry for the player whose place he may take.

yes, cos hes a better player than gonzo, riise and zenden, simple as that....in the 10-15 mins he was on today...he looked a far better option than gonzalez who was simply awful today..huge dissapointment he has been (but hey thats for another thread ;) )

Now do i think kewell will start??.....no , i reckon Rafa will go with Riise left mid with arbeloa left bk.

If he's playing/training well and he'll do a better job than someone else then he should start. He'd probably be taking Zenden's place and he was only in the team because Kewell, Garcia and Aurelio were injured in the first place.

He's our best option on the left undoubtably. Hasn't played enough unfortunately. Place on the bench me thinks.

I have absolutely no morals when it comes to the final. If he is the best option he's the holiest option as far as I am concerned :)

Why doesn't Kewell deserved a place in the final?

The guy has been through alot the past 2 years and has been treated very badly, has come back to full fitness when we need him most...

If he plays, I won't be dissapointed

Because he's not got us there.

So if he is indeed, our best option come CL Final Day, should we not play him because, He never got us there?

He may not of played his part this season, but if he is the one to be picked for the final then so be it, what ever decision Rafa takes I will be confident

I personally like Harry Kewell and whether he has got us there or not, he is part of Liverpool FC.

HK is a gifted player.

Does he deserve a place in the starting line up in Athens???

Maybe not, but he is a great option to hav imo.

To echo antony, if he plays I won't be disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, if Rafa picks him then I'll be happy.

What a load of tripe

He's not played this season apart from today.

Means nothing. You play the best players. Is there a better option on the left? I don't think so myself

I agree, I was just asking the question if he deserved to play in it after not playing one second of the tournament ?

regardless of whether a player deserves to play or not, doesnt it all come down to how good the player is ?.....Say if we still had Diao, ;) and he was injured all season, yet now was fit for the champs league final....would he play? No of course not, cos hes not good enough..

Kewell is our best player on the left hand side...hence the reason for this argument.

If Ronaldiniho was out all season for Barca, then finally got fit for his clubs final game of the season...a champs league final, would he play?>??....yes he would.

But if in Athens in his 20 minutes (before he goes off injured) he helps put us in a strong position he will have warranted a place.

Hes had a terrible time out because of injuries, so morally, maybe he does deserve to play if hes fit and good enough...

He played to get us into a champions league spot anyways didnt he?

Take away the best option part, if two players of the same ability are fighting for one slot, one has played every game, the other has just returned from injury - who should play ?

You're missing the point. Harry hasn't played enough football to constitute starting in Athens.

Zenden will probably start on the left.

that is correct......but hes also far better than riise,zenden,gonzalez......and is far more likely to play a decent cross in/take a player on.... something Riise, zenden and Gonzalez have had plenty of chances to do in the past few games, and lets be honest.....been pathetic at it.

If we are gonna defeat Milan, our best chance is for crosses into the box, dead ball situations..etc..milan are poor at defending any set-piece, let alone deal with crosses into the box....so we pay crouch up front with kuyt, and stick someone who can cross the ball on the left....ie kewell.
