he was f***en outstanding. he closed a chelsea defender down by their corner flag then sprinted the right back to our 18 yeard area to get back into position. The whole crowd saw it and stood and clapped. Thats f***en commitment

PAY THE f***ING MONEY FOR HIM NOW

thank you

The lad is incredible, he's the ultimate defensive midfielder. Never stops running, great on the ball, football brain ten years older than his actual age, throws rock solid tackles in everywhere.

I actually heard a few people say 'wasn't convinced about him before but he was great tonight' etc. but I was convinced about 3 or 4 games ago; he's going to be one of those 'first on the teamsheet' players along with the likes of Gerrard.

I think he's one of those footballers you can truly appreciate if you are lucky enough to actually go to the game - by being in the stands you see just how much ground he covers to ensure we keep our shape, even when the ball doesn't actually come to him. He makes Momo look lazy!

The mind boggling thing was that it was either very late in the game or in extra time. I don't think I've ever seen fans clap a player for getting back in position, but it was so committed the way he did it, he deserved the applause and everyone was on their feet.

Get the feeling he'll score a couple of crackers each season aswell. He gets forward quite a bit.

His will to win is amazing, we've got a brilliant squad here now, just a few more quality attackers and we're set bigtime.

Just a shame he couldn't make that step up in class to West Ham.

I knew before he signed he was good enough, he's a giant of a player, one of the best readers of the game I've seen. World class. We have the best CM group in the world by some distance.

Agreed, Anny he was the f*cking bomb tonight. Him and Kuyt worked harder than any player I've seen in a red shirt in a long time.

A great buy.

Absolutely - watching him in the world cup was enough to see just how good he is. Even top class players can struggle to adapt to English football, but instead he's got all the attributes for our game here. He's perfect for the tough, fast-paced English game.

He's like a little Scouser, running round at full pace and throwing tackles in everywhere. He looks so at home here, he's just a great, great fit for our club.

I still he means the end of Xabi, though and that makes me a bit sad
