Dog Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I have been one of those critical of Zendon's recent performances, especially last week in the first leg against Chelsea. Tonight. I take it all back. I thought he played a blinder. Solid throughout and made me feel guilty for giving him a hard time. Still won't be sorry to see him leave but what a way to go out. Well done that man.
RafaShanks Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) He's been slated by myself and plenty of others over the past week or so. I groaned when I saw his name on the team sheet once again tonight and once again when he stepped up to take the penalty. He might not have the talent, but he's got a massive feckin heart. Respect. Romario Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Yep agreed. I thought he stank in the first game but he ran his balls off tonight and played very very well and took and magic peno as well.
chiliking Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Respect to Zenden, and respect to you. Zenden might be here next season.
surf Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Knew he wouldn't let us down during the game, but was dead worried for the penalty. I was dead worried with all the lads though, i'm crap at watching penalties.
Benitez Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Tell yer what, the guy has balls Never mind the peno, deep into the game he was still trying to take players on in situations when he could have taken an easy pass. He never ever hides. And to step up and take a cool peno like that, credit to the bloke. Not bad for a freebie is Bolo, he'll do, for this game alone

Well done that man. i second that. i too was critical of zenden and i was fuming after i saw the team for today, but credit to him, he put in a classy performance today. hopefully he will perform like this from now on.
Reggie Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I thought he was going to cramp up when taking the peno. Delighted for him. He'll be dropped for Harry in the final though.
Jambo Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Zenden even better than Zendon. And what a feckin penalty! My heart secretly did somersaults when he stepped up
Guest Red & Green Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Fair Play some pair of nut to take the first penalty. All is forgiven!
Dog Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 I started an identical post to this. Seems i was not only one who felt a retraction was in order. Maybe admin can merge the two posts.
Guest Linton Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 i think its safely to say that he'll be able to walk into any game at Anfield for the rest of his life for free. Hats off to Bolo!
Cobs Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 possibly his best game for us looks like a certain starter for the final now
Mr Makaveli Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 good to see Zenden getting praise. I was one of the few who wasnt complaining like f*** that he was picked. I did admit that it was more out of hope than actual belief that hed shine but I knew he'd do himself proud either way. dont lie though, practically nobody else did. It does show how fickle us fans can be as I often complain about Crouch etc... however, it must be good for a player to see how much the fans respect him after he really does give it all for the team. well done Zenden, you should be proud of yourself. also like to add that Mascherano was top class, Gerrard too. Im sure Gerrards contribution will be overlooked as he didnt score a screamer, however the man was more up for it than ive seen for a long long time. good to see finnan back, agger player great, carra was himself.. kuyt was sensational at time... pennant was excellent in the first half... Reina, you were amazing. I have had my doubts about you before and for that im sorry, i was clearly wrong. Under pressure that guy really can preform. I know it sounds like I just praised the entire team, but i didnt... I just praised the ones who played out of their skin.
stressederic Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Zenden didn't half put his foot in tonight as well. hassled the Chelsea midfield and Ferreira constantly.

Guest Sabre Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 He was superb and I'm glad he rammed some of the critics' words down their throats.
fildo Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) reply was - zenden did the job! Noboody really believed it - but he did big style - look bar posters -we were worried but at the posts from us and benitez did the job! Bring on whoever! Edited May 1, 2007 by fildo
hagi_complex Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I like Lawton usually, and at least he recognises that Rafa has more football magic that he'll ever understand. Big respect to Bolo. I couldn't believe it when I heard he was starting, but he put a sterling performance in tonight. I'm delighted for him.
