how was that for 120 minutes of immense defending, unbelievable it was. From the first minute to last, they where like a big fecin machine, snuffing out all the challenges from Chelsea, and the couple times they got through, Pepe was there.

And it was just the icing, that it was one of them, young Daniel Agger that got the goal to get us back on terms.

The ball coming off Carra to go over the bar was like Dudek's save - how in Ronnie Rosentahl's name did that stay out ?

Carra was immense - never stopped, never shut up. Riise his best game of the season.

Superb to a man.

Can see why Rafa played Riise at LB rather than LM. His physical presence was super all evening and he let that diving t*** have it a few times.

One of Riises best LFC games.

Carra was exceptional by his own exceptional standards. His deft chip over the bar was Maradona like :wacko:

really pleased for riise tonight - thats a performance

carra was usual superb self. agger met those standards. finnan was his usual excellent self.

everything pepe did was excellent. likewise mascher, and in a less purely defensive way was gerrard

we were brilliant tonight= all of them

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. That goal last week will end up being a positive thing. I don't see it happening too often to young Daniel. Credit to all of them, them. I'm f*cking euphoric!

I wonder if that free kick was something we worked on in training. I hope it was. Last time I remember us scoring that kind of 'doing something different' from a free kick goal was the FA semi v Palace when -un-like tonight - we lost

Even though the ref let Drogba push our centre backs througout the game (push em off balance so he could win the ball, or win a freekick throwing himeslf to the ground / being hit by the ball), I thought Agger and Carra both stood up to Drogba superbly.

Loved it when Agger got booked for actually genuinely fouling (and hurting) Drogba. He even had a smile on his face afterwards.

Still makes me laugh how the players voted for the scum back five in their team of the year.

It really is true what they say about footballers being thick as s***.

Agger really does have the potential to be one of the best, especially with Carragher right beside him.

The lads were magnificient. Credit to Agger, it's testimony to his mental fortitude that he was able to turn a nightmare outing into a flawless display against one of the best strikers in the game today.

Agreed. It was a test of his mental strength today after being tormented for most of the game last leg - that lad has got balls alright! Well in Danny - also remember how young he is, especially for a defender. Fantastic stuff. And he'll only improve with Jamie next to him - was great to see the way Jamie was tutoring Agger even throughout the game!

Also, great game from Riise - very underrated performance by him I thought - one of his best for us.

Of the backfour, Riise and Agger stood out for me today, both defensively and going forwards. They let Agger have time on the ball and he used it to great effect until he tired late in the game. Didn't shirk it. And Riise put in some great crosses from the left.

Defensively, Agger had done his homework. He was more aggresive and getting first on the ball more. And I was very impressed with the support he got from Riise who made some great interceptions and tackles. The way he denied cole in the area was top notch. Most defenders would have conceded a penalty or given him space to finish or centre it. The pair of them did a great job of neutralising drogba's impact.

was it? Memory fuzzy already.

but Danny Agger grew up last night. Refused to be bullied by that horrible, wretched oaf, Drogba. Goal aside whih was an amazing strike considering the pace the ball moved and his body shape before striking, he was immense last night. Cap doffed.

You forgot cheating, diving sh*thouse.

Agreed though, Agger came of age last night though. Top stuff.

I noticed Carra and Agger decided that whoever was nearest would pick Drogba up. Carra certainly had him rattled - Drogba must've committed at least 10 fouls last night.
