floyd the barber Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 well ive seen paletta a few times now(inc;luding obviously today where he was ummmm well not very good)....looks a long way off the standard, young player yes.....but on this evidence i reckon Rafa is likely to bring another center bk in...as back up for carra..paletta just aint cutting it yet....hopefully given a couple of seasons training and reserve experience with the odd worthy cup game here and there we shall see the potential he apprently has. Now Insua on the other hand, for a kid making his first start...was highly impressive, looked strong in the tackle ,played some decent passes......positional sense was excellent, early days of course and he wasnt exactly up against a tough, tricky winger.....still definetly impressive
Hassony Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 hopefully we can loan Paletta to a lower division team next season
Guz Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 The first time I saw him today though I just thought he looked physically stronger than most young players that have played for us recently. Seems to be getting a few good reviews so fingers crossed he keeps going in the right direction
Zoob Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 The problem with Paletta is that he looks sluggish. He can be good in posession, and is a hard tackler, but too often he thinks he has more time on the ball than he actually has. No doubt this is because in Argentina, defenders do have more time on the ball and are unlikely to be pressed as quickly as they are in the UK. I'm not going to write him off at this point, but equally, at present, I would never be too optimistic about keeping a clean sheet with him in the team. Liked the fact that Insua always tried to pass the ball out of defence. Didn't always work, but more effective than just lumping it like Riise normally does.
alias75 Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Think Paletta will improve greatly with a season on loan to a club in the championship. He needs to get used to the pace of the game over here.
Big G Superhero Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) Hobbs has got to be a better option that Paletta? Hope we see him there before the end of the season... Edited April 29, 2007 by Big G Superhero
KD07 Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I have a feeling God Ant will turn out to be a better prospect at centrehalf for us than Gabby Pal.
anny road Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 he looked off the pace compltely (Palletta) Thought Insua did well
Guest Cardie Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 He's 21 isn't he? Not exactly young in modern football.
jon_hall Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Another CB, anyone heard of an upcoming spaniard called Alvaro Arbeloa?
Ben 23 Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) Yeah, Insua's good. *Wrong thread* --------------- hopefully we can loan Paletta to a lower division team next season A few Championship teams would probably be interested. Could do him some good as well getting regular first team football. I'd keep Insua here next season though. Edited April 29, 2007 by Ben 23
