Sion Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 (edited) "It's bad, it's his knee," said Mourinho. "He's been our best defender the whole season. It's as simple as that." HUZZAH! Edit: He left the game on crutches Edited April 28, 2007 by Sion
R A Softlad Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 So expect his name to be first of the team sheet...
_00_deathscar Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Hasn't Finnan not played in about 3 weeks or so?
Romario Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 ------------------------Reina-------------------------Finnan-------Carra-------------Agger-------Arbeloa-------------------------------------------------------Pennant----------Gerrard---Masch----------Riise---------------------------------------------------------------------------Kuyt-----------------Crouch----------- That would be the team I'd play. Alonso/ Masch , doesn't really matter to me which plays. Whichever one Rafa fancies for it I'm happy with. Alonso looks a little out of sorts and for some reason a bit tired too.
Sion Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 ------------------------Reina-------------------------Finnan-------Carra-------------Agger-------Arbeloa-------------------------------------------------------Pennant----------Gerrard---Masch----------Riise---------------------------------------------------------------------------Kuyt-----------------Crouch----------- If everyone's fit that's the one for me too. However, if Finnan isn't fit it could mess up the whole formation like with the 1st leg.
magneto Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Leaving Alonso out is creemeenal. He's been chit all season.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 He's been chit all season. sorry, but that is just wrong. as wrong as can be.
Chili Palmer Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 He's been chit all season. Now that man knows his stuff...
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 ------------------------Reina-------------------------Finnan-------Carra-------------Agger-------Arbeloa-------------------------------------------------------Pennant----------Gerrard---Masch----------Riise---------------------------------------------------------------------------Kuyt-----------------Crouch----------- Going by today's team it'll be something like that although I'd like to see a role for Alonso.
Chili Palmer Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 no Ballack as well Has that been confirmed Cunny? I read somewhere he has had an op on his ankle.
Clay Davis Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 He's been chit all season.b******s. integral to the team. i'd playReinaFinnan Carra Hyypia ArbeloaPennant Alonso Maschearno RiiseGerrardCrouch Hyypia would be a risk, but I feel he could do better against Drogba. Although it wouldn't do much for Aggers confidence to be dropped. If Agger does play he'll have to play the game of his life to stop Drogba creating something in the form he's in.
Romario Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Has that been confirmed Cunny? I read somewhere he has had an op on his ankle.Ballack and Robben deffo out and Carvalio hopefully. Great news for us.

Not enough goals in that team i reckon, only Crouch has been a regular scorer this season. Only other players likely to score are Gerrard and perhaps Riise. Don't think we can afford the luxery of Alonso, Mascherano AND Gerrard.
_00_deathscar Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Calamitymud's is how I would play it - except with Agger. Although the triumvirate of Finnan-Pennant-Kuyt usually links quite well down that site. Maybe Alonso and Gerrard in the middle with two up front?

On the other hand with that team we may be less likely to concede and more likely to get a 1-0.
Falconhoof Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Apparently Stamford Bridge went silent when Bolton equalised and they heard United had gone infront. Match reports suggest that it clearly affected the players and they struggled after that. If thats true it suggests mental fatigue creeping in. maybe Mourinho's constant whinging is having a negative effect.
surf Posted April 28, 2007 Author Posted April 28, 2007 But 1-0 means we're dependent on the lottery that is penalties. We need a team that's capable of scoring. For me it's Gerrard and Alonso in the middle and Pennant and Riise/Gonzalez out wide, with Crouch and Kuyt/Bellamy up front.
McBain Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Chelsea looked tired at the end of the game. No desire or fight at all. I hope that carries through against us but i can see the occasion raising their game Team? ReinaFinnan (if fit)CarraAggerArbeloaRiiseGerrardMaschPennantKuytCrouch Finnan's only had a neck injury so hopefully he'll have still been able to train some while he's been out. We need him back
Mr Makaveli Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I hate to be a knee jerker however I can't help it now... never did I expect thsi to happen but Chelsea have today thrown away the league... It isnt all over but it certainly isnt looking good for them.. Then they go and lose one of their best players , who of course is a centre back. We will be piling on the pressure if things go well and now I think their defense might not hold. If our crowd are on form and our players are too then I think the atmosphere might just get to Chelsea... Lets get that early goal and then lean on them for the rest of the match. what do you guys think? do you think today will have a big impact on our game against them? the fact that they might well be out of the league.. will it have a galvanising effect or will the pressure of the anfield night be too much for them?
