The_MC Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Just wanna know what people think of the result. Some seem confident, others very pessimistic.Personally, i feel that a 1-0 loss in an away leg to one of the strongest teams in Europe is a decent first leg score. Doesnt put us in the kind of position where we are definate favourites to go through, but i feel it gives us a real chance.
Gunga Din Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 we lost, i'm not happy. anyone happy with that result needs their a*** kicked
Bootle Buck Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I think our build up to this game somewhat upset us. We have really not got into second gear in all of our games since PSV away and too many of our players seemed to play the same way tonight. Chelsea on the other hand have not lost a game since the one at Anfield and have had to battle for every win it seems. They carried that intensity into the game tonight and it showed in the first half. I never really felt we gave it a good enough go tonight. With Essien out and Ferriera playing we had a chance to get at Chelsea and we didn't.
The_MC Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 we lost, i'm not happy. anyone happy with that result needs their a*** kicked Im not saying im happy with the result. Im just happy because im confident we'll go through. I dont think Chelsea will be happy with the result, i sure wouldnt be confident if Liverpool won their home leg only 1-0.1-0 is f***ing nothing. We can overcome that, why are people being so negative?
Tones Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Im not happy with the result but i still think we are in with a decent chance of getting through. Not sure how to vote for that.
Cobs Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 i'll take 0-1 think Rafa missed a chance tonight, but am not despondent at the outcome 1st goal is absolutely vital now next tuesday

We can overcome that, why are people being so negative? We have a huge battle to break down Cech,Terry, Carvalho, Essien, Cole, Makelele and Mikkel who will be a shield across their defence. It's going to take something special and Riise, Gerrard et al better have their shooting boots on. At the other end the "Oscar Brothers" Cole and Drogba always seem capable of a goal against us. However, our famous 12th man can pull us through. Edited April 25, 2007 by Bootle Buck

Could've said the same about them today. Our defence is as good as Chelseas imo. Admittedly they're better going forward, but if Gerrard etc can have good games i see no reason why we cant break em down.
Maldini Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 The thread title and the actual question are very different.
nd Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Well, anything is possible in a European tie with us, especially at home. But I'm not happy with the result. The goal they scored was a bit soft, they could have had a good few more, we created nothing much of note, and we didn't get Drogba booked. And, let's face it, they're not s***. More than capable of scoring and leaving us needing three against their defence.
The_MC Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 The thread title and the actual question are very different. I know, sorry. Im a bit pissed , although if the result gives us a decent chance of going through im happy (enough).
Guest Kaizer Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 (edited) Chelsea have failed to score in only 4 out of 58 matches this season, the good thing is that one of those matches was against us at Anfield when we beat them 2-0, the others were Werder Bremen away, Villa away and Newcastle away. But if they score we will need 3 goals, something they have conceded just once this season, at home to Spurs. There is a mountain to climb, but we can do it, we just need to play up to our best. Wish I hadn't read that stat...
Guest Finnan3 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Mountain to climb all to do and any other cliches you can think of. Rafas biggest test yet!
Crazy Horse Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I'm not happy - I really wanted the away goal. There's a very good chance Chelsea will score against us at Anfield, so I'm somewhat pessimistic about our chances. I was really expecting a 0-0 tonight, was very disappointed at the way we kept giving the ball away.
Magic8Ball Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Mountain to climball to doand any other cliches you can think of. Rafas biggest test yet!Glad you have confidence, I'm already seeing a Chelsea Man U final, and a Chelsea Man U FA Cup and a Chelsea Man U league fight we blew our chance today and its as good as over IMHO
Cobs Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Mountain to climball to doand any other cliches you can think of.it only takes a second to score a goal Glad you have confidence, I'm already seeing a Chelsea Man U final, and a Chelsea Man U FA Cup and a Chelsea Man U league fight we blew our chance today and its as good as over IMHOwell i hope to f'ck you are nowhere near Anfield next tuesday night
Tetti Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Where is the A@A option. When I last saw him an hour or so ago he was trying to cheer me up. Didnt work. I voted no.
Guest Portly Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I'd guess many of the people who voted "no" (currently 32 compared to 16 "yes") are the same people who post messages complaining about the lack of support from the crowd at home games!

Martian Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I'm happy it ended 1-0 but not with the performance. Had it not been for Reina's 2 brilliant saves, it would've been much worse.
smithdown Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 FFS... Nobody is saying its gonna be a doddle but any time I'd be offered a second leg of a European Cup semi-final AT FECKIN HOME with only a one goal deficit then it is GAME FECKIN ON! We haven't yet really had our madly dramatic Anfield game so far this season. Well here it feckin well is...
Red_Rob Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 It's a game we could have won if the team selection was right.
