.........at Stamford Bridge.

The lo-and-behold, Mourinho will pipe up and tell all and sundry that UEFA need to appoint a 'strong' referee that will not bow to public pressure.

I swear, he will not mutter a word in the lead up to the game at the Bridge and then it will be the only topic he will want to talk about towards the 2nd leg

well, if we're 3-0 up like after PSV he can talk about what he likes

 Cobs, this is Chelsea you're talking about!

Jose: Liverpool not a big club

Mind games: Mourinho

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has started the war of words with his Anfield counterpart Rafa Benitez ahead of tonight's Champions League semi-final, insisting 'Liverpool are not a big club'.

Mourinho, whose side are in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple, claims Liverpool are the favourites to progress to the final in Athens because they have not had to play in as many big matches as Chelsea.

'If you ask me about the favourites, Liverpool should be the favourites,' said Mourinho.

'They are favourites because in the year 2007, we have played 27 matches and Liverpool play three or four.

'Steven Gerrard didn't play the last game. Do you think Gerrard and Frank Lampard have the same conditions to compete against each other tomorrow - I don't think it will be a fair fight.

'If you are not a big club, you choose one competition and you fight in that competition and forget the others.

'Big clubs - we cannot do this. We have to go on until we can and try the maximum we can. It is a risk to try and win everything or nothing, or almost nothing because we have the Carling Cup.

'In the last three seasons in the Premiership, Chelsea have more than 60 points more than Liverpool.

I won't be surprised if Liverpool try to get Drogba suspended

'That's a lot. If they are a great team in knockout competitions, we have to admit that and praise them for it. They are good in knockout.'

Mourinho also insisted Liverpool would target striker Didier Drogba ? who is just one game away from suspension and will miss the return leg at Anfield next week if he picks up a yellow card tonight.

'The fact is they don't have players on yellow cards. They had an easy group in the Champions League and had a chance to 'clean' cards.

'For example Dirk Kuyt getting a card in the last minute against PSV was because he didn't want to play in the second game to be clean for the rest of the competition.

'We have Essien suspended and a lot of players with two yellow cards and it would not surprise me if they chase Drogba for 90 minutes to try and get him suspended for the second game.'

It doesn't matter.

Rafa doesn't pay any attention to his crap, nor should we.

Oh Rafa does, that's why he said (paraphrased)

We won't target Drogba like Chelsea did to Xabi in 2005.

It's heating up folks !!!!

I hate the c*** but until we can consistently come up with at least a title challenge every year the suspicion is that the bit i've highlighed may be true through non-LFC tinted eyes.

It's not as if Rafa goes out to lose a game tho. Surely we try and win everything we can, just some are given extra priority just as they are at every club. Well done to Chelsea for having that luck and depth of squad that has seen them compete on 4 fronts.

If we win this tie I can't wait to hear Rafa's short response about Jose. He's always quick, to the point and slightly cutting.

Why is everyone getting so wound up.

This is exactly what he wants (although he doesn't exactly want to wind us up, rather the manager and the team so it's not EXACTLY what he wants ).

Anyway, just laugh at him. I always picture Borat when he talks, same comedy accent.

Try it next time you see him "talking" on the telly.

Behave.

You won't find many football fans worldwide who don't think Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Most would put us comfortably in the top 5, regardless of out title drought in more modern times.

Games played by Chelsea in 2007: 26 (including two games against Wycombe, because a team containing Makelele, Essien, Bridge, Lampard, Cole and Ballack couldn't beat them the first time round, one game against Forest, one against Macclesfield, and one against Norwich)

Games played by Liverpool in 2007: 20 - all against Premiership or European teams.

So in fact, Chelsea have only played one game more than Liverpool against Premiership/European opposition and of their 26 games, 4 games have been against League 1/League 2 opposition...

he's making himself look very silly is jose.

Even Chelsea supporters are beginning to realise that he has went a bit too far this time.

I think the '3 years without a title...' quote is just petty, by that reasoning every manager bar him should have been fired, oh wait a minute, thats probably what he honestly thinks.

It'll all be a bit irrelevent in a week's time though. No one will care what their manager said or how much petty bitching there was as long as they get through. Hopefully it'll be us rejoicing next week not Chelsea.
