Wonder if we'll see Harry Kewell tomorrow.

Hopefully we'll wrap up CL qualification with a win (or if Everton and Bolton don't win). Shows how far we've come that we're kind of taking qualification for granted now, witn a few games to spare too.

VIEW FROM THE JJB

Paul Farrington from wiganer.net provides the view from the JJB ahead of this Saturday's Premiership fixture at Anfield.

How do you feel about this trip?

Pessimistic. I think 99 per cent of our supporters have written the game off and are already focusing on the West Ham clash the week later. We're unlikely to get anything against you as we always lose against any of the top four. Saying that, we gave Arsenal a run for their money at the Emirates, so it really will depend on which Wigan team decides to turn up. We were shocking at Anfield last year, and that wasn't helped by the Mike Pollitt error that gave Crouch his first so-called "goal" for Liverpool. Only you Scousers could claim that was his goal! Here in Wigan, we tend to call a spade a spade. We were poor at our place as well though, so I suppose it could well just be a case of Benitez outwitting Jewell in the tactics department. Anything less than 100 per cent from your lot, though, and we'll capitalise. We've got Kevin Kilbane remember.

What's gone wrong for Wigan this season?

We made a lot of changes in the summer. Eleven players left and eleven joined. These changes have had a massive effect on the team spirit and it has taken a long time for the new players to settle in. We have started to look like a team again however, and our last two games with Aston Villa and Tottenham have shown that the good-old Wigan spirit of last season has returned. Player for player, our squad is much stronger than it was last time around. If we learn how to defend for our final four games then survival should be a foregone conclusion.

How are Heskey and Kirkland doing?

Kirkland is injured again, but he was an ever present in the side up until then. Although his later games looked a little shaky, he was outstanding for the most part. It is clear to see why he is tipped as a future England regular because he looks superb when on top of his game, and I think he is better than Reina. Heskey has also been a huge success for us. It has appeared at times that he can be all huff-and-puff with little finished product, but his link play and heading ability are superb. Unlike Peter Crouch, Emile has developed the ability to jump. Three goals in his last three games has shown just what he is capable of. Perhaps over-priced at £5.5 million, but should he net his fourth goal in four this weekend I won't be complaining.

What will Paul Jewell's gameplan be?

I think he would be a fool if he decided to attack, but then again it would be equally foolish to go too defensive. We have been throwing away leads too easily and this is a worrying factor, being so close to the relegation zone. We'll go for a 4-4-2 formation, but the personnel will be interesting. There is an argument amongst supporters that we would be best resting our key players for the game, and focusing on our three other games. However, Paul Jewell is a manager who believes his side can win any game, and will more than likely play our strongest eleven.

Who will you be worried about?

The usual suspects. I think Steven Gerrard is without doubt Liverpool's best player and if a team can manage to keep him quiet then they have gone a long way towards keeping Liverpool quiet. I think Bellamy's pace will be dangerous if he plays; he ripped us apart at the JJB earlier in the season. Personally, however, I don't rate Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch.

What are your weaknesses?

At the moment it has to be our defence. We don't seem to have a regular back four and this is impacting on the understanding and organisation of our backline. The sooner Arjan De Zeeuw is back to full fitness the better. Thankfully, Emmerson Boyce made his return last week against Tottenham. We have, however, been scoring freely in recent games with Denny Landzaat and Emile Heskey in particular playing well. It will be interesting to see if PJ starts with Henri Camara or £500,000 man Caleb Folan up front. Pace or power, that is the question...

How do you assess the relegation battle?

There are still 12 points to play for and a long way to go before anything is settled. We've still got to play West Ham, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United. Certainly the games with West Ham and Sheffield will be six-pointers. I think if we drew all three, that would be enough to keep us up on 38 points. Charlton have hit form at the right time and Fulham have some difficult games; I think it will be between those two for 18th spot. West Ham's run-in will be too difficult, but I'd have a tenner on them winning at our place, they always do.

Finally, who's going to win the Champions League?

I know you won't like to hear this but I think United will win it. I also have to confess that I partly want them to win it. Not because I'm a cupboard Manc or anything, I just feel that they have played the most exciting football this season. Ronaldo in particular has been phenomenal all season. If it can't be United though, I would hope you Scousers get it. Football in the north west of England is thriving at the moment.

That Wigan fella is a tool. Banging on about Heskey getting three in three. What about the previous 30. Anyway.

Team for tomorrow. Any chance of seeing Carra and Agger rested? If so.

Finnan Arbeloa Hyypia Riise

Pennant Momo Bolo Gonzalez

Kuyt Bellamy

I don't think that is going to be the team, but realistically it is probably the weakest team we could field and still get a result.

This guy's a t*** and clearly knows very little about football.

Unlike Emile Heskey, Crouch has developed the ability to not fall over.

I really don't understand why Reina is so unappreciated outside of Anfield. He's consistently kept more clean sheets than any other keeper in the premiership. It's not like they think it's because we have a great defence as Carra, Agger and Finnan are all underated as well.

Because most people lift their opinions straight out of the newspapers and off Sky Sports.

So much of what Andy Gray and Charlie Nicholas et al spout gets regurgitated as considered opinion.

From HERE

Craig Bellamy and Xabi Alonso both trained yesterday and are fit to return to the Reds squad.

Bellamy has missed the last two matches with a knee injury, while Alonso sat out the midweek win over Middlesbrough with a thigh strain.

What kind of noises will we hear over the tannoy if Heskey scores during an 'Operation Anfield Exercise' moment? :o

0 - 1 Wigan. Odds 17:1

If Rafa is resting half the team I'll go for that one!

Looks like SG will be sitting this one out according to this morning's papers. Apparently, clubs around Wigan in the danger zone are furious at Rafa for this!
