From BBC:

Julio Baptista's future at Arsenal is in doubt after he revealed he is struggling to adjust to playing in the Premiership and life in England.

The 26-year-old is on a season-long loan from Real Madrid as part of a swap deal for Jose Antonio Reyes.

Baptista told The Times: "The weather over here is killing me. We get one day of sunshine for every 30 days of rain.

"The Premiership is very hard. I enjoy making clever touches but the game is so fast I don't have time to think."

There is still a possibility of Baptista's switch being made permanent but the Brazilian indicated he would rather return to the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

The teams from the north of England are terrible - when we play them I have counted their centre-backs booting up to 30 long balls upfield per game

"I could stay at Arsenal but right now I can't see myself anywhere for definite," he explained.

"But it is clear in my mind that I'd tackle a second chance with Real with far more maturity than I did my first.

"My girlfriend and my mother are frightened about not seeing the sun in England. They miss being in Madrid."

Baptista, known as 'The Beast', has not been impressed by some of Arsenal's rivals.

"The teams from the north of England are terrible," Baptista said. "When we play them I have counted their centre-backs booting up to 30 long balls upfield per game.

"The moment you stop to think, someone has taken the ball off you and knocked you to the ground.

"Over here they value a corner kick more than a fancy flick. I am lucky to be with Arsenal, as they are a team that likes to play proper football."

---------------------------------------------------------------

What a bell-end.I wouldn't mind,but he's not very good anymore,and hasn't been for some time.

Some of these foreign footballers have no shame.

'The nasty Northern men kept knocking me over'.

Bloody hell, you really do need to man up Julio.

Still cant believe he managed to stick 4 past us. Brings back memories of Kevin Lisbie's hatrick before quickly dissapearing into obscurity

apparently he also said "I like to try overhead kicks, but dont get the chance," which I found rather odd

He should try one when one of the Northern defenders boots the ball.

So terrible we battered you 4-1 on a sunny day. Looks like a team from the north west might win the League, FA Cup and the European Cup.

Terrible.

He's s***. If it wasnt for the Dud he's never have scored 4 against us! He can only succeed in a easy league like la liga where even those well known goal-machies Forlan and Kanoute can be considered among the the top league players.

he's become a comedy figure. And aint it typical, his and Rosicky's 1 good games this season where against us

Straight swap for the £17 mill Reyes, superb! G'ooooon Wanger, you can do it!

What a load of crap some of you spout.

If he's gone why are Arsenal negotiating with Real Madrid atm?

Why has his agent pencilled in a meeting at the end of May to sit down and negotiate the new terms if Madrid accept to sell?

Why was Reyes telling everyone he met last week in Sevilla that he's finished with Arsenal?

It's the same as Juande Ramos interview with The Times - everything he said was twisted to sell more copies. The original interview was recorded by three different people - the transcript has been seen over here - it bears little resemblance to what was printed.

If la Liga is crap why do so many of the posters on here watch the games?

Hmmm, lets look at the evidence:

One post saying that 'he's gone'.

No posts saying that La Liga is crap.

Lots of posts laughing at what a prick Baptista made of himself with that interview.

One post that has nothing to do with what he said in that interview, or with the vast majority of other posts in this thread, but that gives the poster the chance to impress by dropping a few names/displaying his inside knowledge.

I think if they did do a swap the value would be nowhere near what Arsenal paid (or haven't yet paid!) for Reyes initially.

Yes Reyes is very talented, but he's also very injury prone, can't hack it when the going gets tough and prone to going missing in games. When he's good he's very good but all things considered he can't be worth more than £10m now.

He should have stayed at Sevilla. I see comparisons with him and David Villa to be honest, and I'm just not sure if the latter would fare as well here as he does in La Liga either.

La Liga is of a very high standard, I just think there is less physical contact and the game is in general a little slower - those 2 things seem to make the biggest difference - look at Forlan, Morientes and FSP all doing well in Spain but found it hard going here.

its funny how the little things can make such a big difference; wonder if Cisse would cut it for a mid table team in Spain ?
