Paves the way for the yanks to come back in.

Doesnt it do the opposite? I thought Dein was the only one in favour of selling?

Indeed. And apparently those who own shares in the club are being asked to sign something to the effect that they will not be able to sell any of their shares to a foreign bidder in the next year...

What's the point in that? Surely you can't force shareholders to do that so they only reason they'd sign up would be if they weren't intending to sell any way.

It's a big loss for arsenal that, I can't stand the man as I think he abused his power at the FA, but he has done very well for arsenal, hope they end up with a risdale in charge.

Guess it's more a case of agreement not to sell shares rather than signing anything, which I'm sure couldn't be binding anyway.

Didn't realise Dein owned 14.5% of Arsenal shares...

More info

here

"In the light of recent speculation with regards to the ownership of the club, the remaining board members, who together own 45.45 of the issue share capital of the company, would like to reassure the supporters, shareholders and employees of Arsenal Football Club that they remain long-term holders of their interests in the club.

agree that it's a huge loss for Arsenal, and I think most Arsenal fans will feel this way too. they like Dein and dislike Hill-wood from what I've heard.

I dont know too much about Arsenal but it just seems like a case of waiting 12 months to see what situation they find themselves in and deciding what to do then. If they're in the same boat again next season and fighting to finish 4th then they might think it's time to sell up and get some extra investment on the pitch. Kinda like a reverse to us as they have the stadium and may end up realising they dont have enough money for the stadium + sustained investment into the team wheras we were the opposite.

There is talk this morning that Wenger will sign a new contract until the situation is fully explained to him. Apparently the Dein resignation took him by surprise.

That was meant to be "not sign a new contract", kinda changes the angle of the post. :notrelatedtoanyforummember4:
