Mad_Fer_It Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Or just someone to do the unexpected...Games like this one vs. City where everything is boring and there seems to be no way through. We need that player to do that pass that no expects.
Guest Scot Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 we're holding out for Garcia till the end of the night
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Kuyt's the man. And Fowler with the winning penno against the Mancs in the final, after placcy's had his saved. 6-finger salute to the Manc fans & job's a good-um
Magic8Ball Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I'm guessing this is why we signed Voronin as an alternative to Garcia in case Garcia is injured again We definately need a "locksmith" a "magician" for games where the opposition plan to defend all game
George Costanza Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 We need better attacking players. Garcia certainly could've made a difference today but the problem with Luis (particularly away fom home) is that he could also have been anonomous.
Mike Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 we need to play 2 f***ing strikers away at s*** teams like city
Falconhoof Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 We need better attacking players. He's been here long enough for us to know that he makes a decent contribution but its not consistent enough for him to be a regular component in a title winning side. Decent squad member maybe, but Rafa will know we need better.
Romario Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Garcia would help but like I've said time and time again when the players/manager choose the games to turn up for it doesn't matter a f*** who plays for you.Next season will be very interesting indeed. This is my only gripe with Rafa. Either he's telling the players not to perform or else he needs to get rid if they are not up for it. I honestly can't remember ever seeing ManU turn out games like we did today. Granted they might have played s**** and lost but they do try. I know the whole arguement about saving ourselves for the CL game V Chelsea but it's that attitude that has us playing a very fresh squad at the end of the season fighting for peanuts in the league. The removal of passion replaced with "professional" performances leaves me somewhat cold. The thing is if we had ManU's attitude we'd be up there with them as we are a match for both Chelsea and ManU on the park. I wasn't arsed with the game today like most of our league games this season to be honest as I knew what to expect.Granted we'll turn up for the big games but what is the point in beating Arsenal 4-1 only to turn up at the likes of Man Cith happy with a draw!? We all know we're good enough for 4th so they players are currently play for that spot.Unfortunatly that atitude started last October. I can't be bothered with that attitude as I feel cheated to be honest.
Cam Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Or just someone to do the unexpected...Or if there's no-one in the first team squad that's capable of it then have a kid on the bench. I'm not saying "play 'em all, top 4 is tied up" but surely having an unknown quantity for the opposition can't be a bad thing. Obviously, the clear candidate is up in Scotland at the mo.

Magic8Ball Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 and voronin is that "magician"??he's creativity on a budget, remember the deal was in place BEFORE the Americans bought the club in hind site it looks like the deal was a llittle too hasty; still I believe Voronin is here for games where we need Garcia but Garcia is injured/suspended etc

Two recent games against Villa and City when it appears that the intention has been to go out and be happy with a point when to win the title you can't do that. True, we're out of the title race and have the CL in mind but it becomes a habit that's difficult to get out of. There's been several games this year when it's been apparent that the players / manager weren't too bothered about winning - not good enough.
Mad_Fer_It Posted April 15, 2007 Author Posted April 15, 2007 I too think youngsters could be a bit more arsed about winning these type of matches, and would contribute in a different manner than first teamers. Hopefully well see a bunch of them before the end of the season.
Mikey Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 I think Garcia is looking better to people as a result of not playing, it seems that him giving the ball away 20 times a game and missing simple passes to try some fancy little flick or other has been forgotten. Yes he has scored some very important goals for us, and yes he does add some creativity to the side but come on, most on here have commented on how bloody infuriating and inconsistent he is. Now he's injured, we don't score against City and he's what we need? We will need better than him if we're to challenge for the title.

Mikey Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Phil NevilleThis is done in another thread, but Phil Neville is a destructive player - fullback, defensive midfielder - its easier to carry an 'average' player there than it is in more creative areas. garcia, at least the little f***** never hides. No he doesn't, even if sometimes I wish he would!

He's a great squad option though.
psl Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Garcia is more than capable of being in a title winning team. He's one of our best players.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 (edited) Garcia is more than capable of being in a title winning team. He's one of our best players. I'd like to see better players ahead of him on the wings. He's my ideal first substitute in attacking midfield though and with rafa's rotation that just about equates to first team regular anyway. Earl Hafler Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 We need a better player than Garcia in the side but Garcia is a good player to have in the squad. The one player we need to buy in the summer is someone who can play through the middle ( preferably out wide also ) and create, take people on and open up defences - turn games like those against City into wins. It's 20 years since the summer of Beardsley and Barnes. We need another one of those.
Rimbeux Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Sounds simple, but we need to actually try and win these type of games and be more positive away
