Try Anfield Spion Kop circa 1980 ish. Scouse adaptation of Italian.

 

As regrds this song. It's an Argie chant originally so the aim of Campione is to retain some Latin flavour and also relates to our European pedigree in that only us Real Madrid and AC Milan could sing that word with conviction without being complete imposters. Eat yer heart out Man U, Forest and Villa. As for anyone else - forget it.

 

As for the words - believe me there's been hundreds of efforts and those above are the most apt. You have to listen to the original and try to harness its energy. No t easy. It'll work well with the handclapping if it can be taken up by the crowd en masse.

when we've won the league again we can change it to 'we're back up at the top'

Love it - can see that catching on definitely.

 

'Campione' means Champions in Italian doesn't it? Makes sense to me, we've been champions of England and Europe enough times in the past to merit it.

 

Macherano will be made up as well as it's an Argentina song, hope it gets going tomorrow.

I went to bed with it going around my head and woke up wityh it in my head this morning - it's like a fkin mantra or something
