Arsenal 4 points behind now, with a lot tougher games remaining than us.

People who fear mockers need to chill out :P

4pts in 6 games. All it takes is 2 bad results and they are above us. If we were out of the Champs Lge I'd be pretty sure of us getting 3rd but if we hopefully make the semis I can see Rafa chopping and changing before and after Euro games and that may cost us points.

What is secured IMO is 4th place. Bolton are 6pts behind and have 5 games left. Assuming they win all it would put them 9pts ahead of us, meaning 10/18 would secure 4th with the very unlikely assumption of Bolton winning all remaining games.

thats assuming they win both of those games to take advantage!

they have got bolton, man city, fulham, and chelsea at home and then spurs and pompey away - I reckon 12 - 14 points

we have got middlesborough, wigan, and charlton at home and man city, portsmouth, and fulham away - I reckon also 12-14 points

so I think we will finish anything between 2 and 6 points clear of arsenal

3 Wins and we're guaranteed a CL place. Our next 3 games are Man City (A), Boro (H) & Wigan (H). Should be home and dry.

It could get very nasty for Arsenal and Wenger from here on in. If they finish out of the Champions league places, would that young squad have the bottle to get them back in next season ?

Or away, home, home and dry. ;)

I agree Graham, the press will turn on Wenger and Arsenal soon enough and then you've got to worry about their financial situation if they have to settle for a UEFA spot.

Should we make it through to CL safely, it's going to make it right interesting for Liverpool fans about who should be the 4th team in :

Would we like to see Arsenal finish outside top 4 ? YES

Would we like to see Fat Sam & his side being rewarded with a CL place ? I'm not so sure I do.

Would we like to see the Blues**** rewarded with a top 4 place ? No (i.m.o.).

Hobson's choice, eh ? (or is it Murphy's choice ? :hmm: )

that 'young squad' bollorks is overstated. When we played em the other week, the average ages of the teams that day where something like 24.1 for them, and 24.5 for ours.

They have some good players who have a lot of experience between em. No doubt Wenger has feced up though with some of his signings over the last 2 years, and the issue there is more to do with that, than the age of the squad, which gets over done to fec. 2 or 3 better signings this summer than they have made the last 2 years, and they'd be ok.

Damn right I would. How funny was their last European adventure.

I'm not a fan of Sam Allardyce, but there's something special about the way he's had them so consistent over the past few years. I wouldn't begrudge Bolton a crack at the big time.

they make an enormous amount of money on match days now.

actually it wouldnt do them any harm, would remove some of the arrogance and encourage them to use more pragmatic football - more focus wouldnt be bad for them ... but in the end, who cares?

He's the best English manager.

i'm interested to see what they are going to do with terry's injuries beginning to look like they could become fairly regular. he'd be a big loss to the premier league but a huge loss to arsenal with the number of goals and assists he's consistantly responsbile and with no obvious natural successor. wenger too only has a year left on his contract. these are interesting times for arsenal.

He's an excellent manager. It'll be interesting to see if he gets offered the job at Newcastle for instance where he has a bit more spending cash, whether he'd take it and have a crack at winning trophies.

I would prefer it to be Spurs over all of them

he certainly is. he's managed some notorious personalities over the past few years, beaten some of the big teams and not had a bad european run. he's also meant to be meticulis in his prearation and uses cutting edge training techniques. fair enough people here don't like him at a personal level but you can't argue with his results. i'd like to see him step up to somewhere with a large budget than bolton. i'm sure it would do him the world of good development-wise stepping up to the champions league. it might be useful to arsenal as well to play in a less arduous cup for a year to regroup, however that could see the likes of fabregas and maybe even wenger be tempted away and could equally impede their chances of landing bigger names come the summer.

Probably only need 9 pts, they haven't got a goal difference.

Would prefer to see spurs, but neither everton nor bolton would bother me as their agricultural style of play almost guarantees that they will not qualify through to the competition proper when a European referee is in charge. Equals a bigger share of the pot for us.

It won't be everton though and spurs aren't going to make up 8 pts on arsenal, bolton are the only ones that have a chance of catching them.

he would go in a heartbeat

he's always trying to talk his way to a 'bigger' job

Spurs have the 2nd worst defensive record in the top 14 teams. For a club with media darlings such as Paul Robinson, Pascal Chimbonda, Ledley King (albeit he's been injured most of the season) & Michael Dawson at the back, that is a deplorable stat.
