David Hodgson Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Some may scoff, I can't wait to see him back : "Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes Harry Kewell may play against Wigan in two weeks' time. Kewell is yet to kick a ball for The Reds this term after injuring himself at last summer's World Cup in Germany. However, the ex-Leeds ace is back in training and Benitez believes he may be ready to make his first-team return against Wigan on 21st April. "He's back in training," Benitez said in the Daily Star Sunday. "But when you've been injured for a long time and you start working hard you get tired and need rest. "He's close but how close? We'll need to see him playing in some small games first. "Then after that we'll need to see him play eleven-a-sides. " "He will play again this season, though. Maybe in two weeks' time."
RedNik Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Wasn't the earlier return date, the barcelona away leg? It just keeps getting pushed back, and thats what is worrisome. No doubt he is exactly what we are lacking in midfield (have lacked the whole year).
Guest Prongsy Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Back just in time for the final. God, I love omens.

Ombudsam Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I'd love Harry to come back. I'd love it even more if he could return to that Chelsea semi form which was one of the performances of last season
abc Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Chelsea semi it is then! (CL and FA Cup) And then back for the final, but limps off... (both cup finals) There's a trend isn't there?

Duncan Disorderly Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Kewell down the left, Pennant down the right, we`re lit!
hideNseek Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Kewell down the left, Pennant down the right, we`re lit! There's a song in there somewhere.
Stevie H Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 if kewell ever plays effectively for liverpool again i'll eat my stolen homburg.
RafaShanks Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) Kewell returning to the fold = time to make more room in the already overcrowed trophy cabinet. Edited April 8, 2007 by RafaShanks
Dule Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 If Harry comes back, plays and then gets injured in the final i think #6 is in the bag
Red Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 if kewell ever plays effectively for liverpool again i'll eat my stolen homburg. You want fries with that?
Magic8Ball Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 what some people on here dont get is that: Harry Kewell has had some good games for usBut because in the past we didnt have options at LW he was playing with injuries, playing when tired, and rushed back to action too soon those among other reasons have contributed to his injuries -- now if Kewell would accept a reduced wage and a pay as you play bonus I would be VERY happy to keep him here and get 20 games a season out of him because in those 20 games he could go all out and Rafa's Rotation would allow him recovery time in between These days we have Leto, Gonzales to help shoulder the responsibilty of LW I tell you a fit and firing Kewell and a more confident Pennant and this team will tear teams apart - the 4231 formation is perfect for Kewell, Pennant and Gerrard .. hell its suits our midfield to a T and would allow Crouch as the spearhead to play in the 6 yard box more, where he's more and more effective ( as of late )
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 With Aurelio out we need a source of decent crossing from the left. This comes at the right time. Fingers crossed eh.

Knox_Harrington Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Every shape we use could do with Kewell as an option. He doesn't have to come back at his fittest - and the notion that he can come back at the level of the Chelsea semi is ridiculous as that was as good a game as any winger in the country had that season - but he's such an intelligent player he can raise the level of the team immediately.
RafaShanks Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 (edited) A sustained Harry return would be fantastic given Aurelio's injury. The Wigan game is in 12 days with the Champs league semi's a few days after back to back. Considering the amount of time he's been out, I can't see any way he'll be involved a lot in those two games. Athens (if we get there) is more likely, although I'm not holding out for it. Edited April 9, 2007 by RafaShanks
Mr Makaveli Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 If Harry comes back, plays and then gets injured in the final i think #6 is in the bag The other team (It will be milan) will just walk off the pitch. either that or they'll assign a man marker to hold him up and help him run around.

Toni Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 The lad hasnt kicked a ball all season. Cant imagine how he will suddenly become our star in the team. but heres hoping...
Dee Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I don't see what the whole fuss about Kewell is right now - he's not going to be ready to play in any major final, game nor kick about... has he even turned out for the reserves?? All this nonsense about him coming in and getting a place ahead of those who have played all season, and who IMO deserve to play the final, is bollix wise up, folks..
