you don't have ESPN 2 in hi def?

the pic is great.

Missus will not let me get Setanta at the moment, she says I will have to give up the Spanish digital tier and the baseball on the web if I want the footy.

There are enough online sites, so I'm keeping the Spanish channels and the baseball.

Setanta is ace...having that and FSC means I haven't missed a game all season.

ESPN2 in hi-def would be nice, but I haven't signed up for it yet...have to admit, didn't know they had the deuce in hi-def. Depending on the tv schedule for the semis, I may add that!

Top notch Nebraska Red.

I appreciate it.

From what my program guide has said throughout the season, the matches are broadcast on the ESPN2 HD channel but they are not in high def. I checked one match earlier in the season and then i watched the PSV match yesterday on the HD channel and it wasnt in HD. They need to have the cameras for HD in order to broadcast it, and unfortunately Europe is pretty far behind the US in this respect. We were lucky that the WC was in HD last summer. Its possible that if game from Anfield was still on ESPN2, it would be in HD, since Sky are now broadcasting HD league matches, but I would bet that even if it is in HD in Britian, it will not be in the US because of all the licensing issues as well as the physical infrastructure needed to pass the signal across. I'm holding out hope that with the new Setanta TV contract that goes into effect next year, we will start getting some league games in HD, but I think that wishful thinking. And I agree with the original poster who said that the ESPN2 feed is not as sharp as the Setanta one.

Thanx for the Hi-def info..

Saves me paying for the Hi-def Directv reciever because I can't be arsed over whatever else is on Hi-def for the few hours I might use it.

I've been watching most of our games on the P2P site rather than ITVN and Sentanta. For me it is less hassle than setting the ITVN box up. Plus I can watch ESPN2 or FSW at the same time. The picture has been great.

What's a man to do without Sentanta? She's turning into the "TV Nazi" :D

the matches while not in HD are much clearer on ESPN2HD than they are on regular ESPN or Setanta.

The final last year was broadcast in HD, so ESPN2 has the capability.

Thats true about the final, and as i pointed out the WC was also in HD. I have no doubt that they can do it for one-offs, but i dont think the infrastructure exists to do it everyday.

Nebraska Red:

Just curious - how/where did you get the listings for more than 2 weeks ahead? I'd love to know (if you're willing to divulge!). Most sites only carry info for the current week and the next one. Thanks in advance.

Find it amazing that Setanta considers our fixtures against Wigan, Portsmouth and Fulham "first pick" though...I'd bet the farm that at least one of these will end up on FSC.

Was just setting up the Tivo to tape the match tomorrow and ESPN Classic (Cox in Northern Virdinia) is showing it live it looks like at . I'll check the guide tomorrow to see if it holds true but as of now it's scheduled to air at 2:30 - 4:45 PM EST.

my tv guide shows us on espn classic at 5pm which is consistent with a live game on setanta first.
