Guest Ant Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 But seems as if their was abit of trouble before hand, my dad is in the steward lounge or something with a few other Liverpool Fans, Liverpool stewards and PSV stewards...in PSV Not entirely sure what has happend, but according to him their was only 3 turnstiles open, and I don't mean to over react here but from the words coming from my Dad... "Reminded me of Hilsborough", he did seem very dejected on the phone, didn't sound as if their had been any casualties or injuries, but he did describe the seen as horrific.... Not sure what to say other then, everyone seems to be ok but hopefully we can find out in the next few hours/days what happend.... I'll keep you posted...
Guest Ant Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Update: Apparently as well as their being very few gates, their has been some fans letting the club down and causing trouble.....

That really doesn't sound like an English v Dutch affair, normally a fantastic vibe between the two. Edited April 3, 2007 by Prongsy
Guest Ant Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 God Knows what it is, Im just worried about my Dad, he talked about 1000's of ticketless fans spoiling it for others....

Benitez Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 if there had been anything serious, we'd have heard all about it on the telly. So hopefully all is well, don't worry Ant, Kev will be fine

Falconhoof Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Sounds like simmilar to Lille vs Man U. Hope there's been no fighting. Ticketless fans travelling to European aways seems to have become a much bigger headache for everyone with the cheap flights and everything.
Tim Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 A mate rang me just after the game and said that he didn't get in the ground till about 5 minutes before half time, also said some others didn't get in till after half time.
reddragon Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 hope this isn't as bad as it sounds. What do you mean by 'letting the club down and causing trouble'? What kind of trouble? It doesn't bode well if Kev is really despondent after a performance like that............but on the other hand he is a pessimist at the best of times
Guest Ant Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Got a text off him, he is on coach and on way to airport... God Knows what happend I'm just glad he is okay at the moment, im sure he will tell all tommorow
Kahnee Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Also just heard from him: Quote It was one of the worst experiences at a match. I am so relieved to be on the coach in one piece
Maldini Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 They mentioned this indirectly on RTE, nothing about trouble but they said there were as many as 10,000 Liverpool fans in the city and only 1,600 official tickets. They also said there were a lot of empty seats at the start of the game, they put it down to the touts looking for too much money.
RP Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Let's not get all over-dramatic. Sh** happens at a lot of European games. I've spoken to people tonight who have variously said that some innocent people got arrested, some ticketless fans caused problems for others, nothing untoward happened at all, police waded in, police stood back. It sounds like trying to get in to any European away game to me.

Tetti Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 On my way back to Schiphol on the train. Saw Kev briefly after we got in. Took us 30 mins to get in. There were only 3 turnstiles ( same as last time) a rigorous search and ticket check ( like last time) and a side entrance where they first checked tickets then let you down the pen to the turnstiles (like last time). A good part of the problem that I saw was caised by people without valid tickets being rejected at either the first check or at the turnstiles. They then either got pushed back into the queue or rejoined it to try again. All sorts of bunking in scams under way involving folded over tickets from the first game or copies and then those that just chose to try and blag their way in. I doubt many made it in but they made it uncomfortable for those of us trying to get in legitimately. The police on horses on the road made it an uncomfortable squeeze against the side of the pen. Have heard stories of the police going in on that crush after we got through and of some random arrests. Also heard of a bad crush at the turnstiles, when they stopped people going through but did not hold those behind them back. Same police presence, same number of tickets, same ground etc. But a large number of people determined to break the system and get in without a ticket. That is what I saw for myself. And there were loads of empty seats. We missed kick off but a good 5 to 8 rows at the back were near enough empty throughout the first half and remained empty for most of the game. Are you saying there were loads of empty seats though??
