Guest Kev Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Jermaine Defoe is the most natural goalscorer in the Premiership
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Is he even the most natural goalscorer at Spurs?
Paul_LFC Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Exactly. I think a certain Mr Michael Owen would have raised his eyebrows when he heard that comment. Owen is a cracking player, and England missed him hugely tonight, Owen always pops up with a winning goal in those type of games.
Falconhoof Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 "Frank didn't dive, he anticipated the tackle".
CarraLegend Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 "Frank didn't dive, he anticipated the tackle". that was f***ing comical, "I dont think Frank dived, he was just anticipating the tackle". Yes David, the tackle that didnt arrive hence its cheating.
Guest Portly Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 It would have been more believable if Platt had claimed that Lampard had merely suffered a brief epileptic fit.
George Costanza Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 It would have been more believable if Platt had claimed that Lampard had merely suffered a brief epileptic fit. or spotted a ginsters pasty on the floor

Lee W Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 "Frank didn't dive, he anticipated the tackle". You can't blame Platt really. He's hardly gonna slag off his own reincarnation.
Gomez Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 (edited) Exactly. I think a certain Mr Michael Owen would have raised his eyebrows when he heard that comment. Owen is a cracking player, and England missed him hugely tonight, Owen always pops up with a winning goal in those type of games. It raises an interesting point. SCS omitted Defoe for the less talented Johnson because he thought Rooney and Johnson would be the better partnership. Defoe is a very similar player to Owen, though not as good, or at least not as good as Owen of 4 years ago, does anyone think that had Owen been fit, SCS would still be looking for a 'partnership' rather than playing Owen and Rooney which has been proven not to work? Also, if you are talking solely about natural goalscoring ability. Fowler wins hands down. Edited March 25, 2007 by Gomez

Leo No.8 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I'm sure Platt fancies Jermain Defoe. That's about the third time I've heard him say Defoe is the most natural goalscorer in England. It's so out of keeping with what anyone else thinks and so far from the truth I can only think he must have a thing for him. Defoe isn't even always first choice for Spurs; at the end of the day he was a promising kid who hasn't really set the world on fire or developed much from the age of 18. Platt is talking utter crap, if anything I think Defoe making the squad says a lot about our current lack of truly top class strikers.
Clay Davis Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 and when rooney waved the imaginary yellow card, it was ok. but if it was an israeli player to do that they would have said "and we don't like to see that kind of stuff in football"
Earl Hafler Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Jermaine Defoe is the most natural goalscorer in the Premiership I almost dropped my pint when Defoe was caught 90 yards offside. Defoe...offside ? and when rooney waved the imaginary yellow card, it was ok. but if it was an israeli player to do that they would have said "and we don't like to see that kind of stuff in football" What pissed me off was Carra getting booked and the Israeli player getting away with 2 worse challenges. One of the worst games of footy i've seen since Englands previous game.
Snoeker Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Rooney's stagnating. (On behalf of the drunken knight) and you can eff off, you ***
jimmylibel Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Rooney's stagnating. At England level sure, at club level I reckon he's just having a bad season (by his standards).
Bigal Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) Platt said that Fitz hall shouldn?t be booked when he fouled bellamy cos bellamy was offside, and therefore it shouldn?t count. Therefore, Saturday, play van persie off side, head butt him in the face, its ok, he was offside. Edited March 28, 2007 by Bigal

Gilps Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 can't be ar**d checking the stats, but if someone else does, I'm pretty sure the goals to game ratio from the partnership isn't too shabby. I'm f***ed if I'm working it out, but it is indeed pretty good. Certainly far better than any other partnership England have tried whilst Owen's been injured.
fyds Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 You can't blame Platt really. He's hardly gonna slag off his own reincarnation. At least David Phatt waited until he reired before adding the lard. Good point though - their similar invisible over-rated averageness is well marked.
Cobs Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Owen and Rooney which has been proven not to work?19 goals in 23 games by way of comparison Shearer & Sheringham got 21 in 26 matches together
John am Rhein Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 19 goals in 23 games What, Owen and Rooney have played 23 England games together?
