Zoob Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 7 points for an away win where away team score 33.5 points for a home win where home team scores 21.25 points for home score draw, 1.77 points for away score draw. each team has 3 POWERPLAYS where the opposition can only keep 1 defender in their own half for 7 minutes.
Guest Cameron Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 This is what they do in American 'soccer'. Very stupid proposal.
Duncan Disorderly Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 If it ain`t broke, don`t fix it!They`re bloody Americanising( sorry, AmericaniZing ) everything!
San Diego Red Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 (edited) Waste of f***ing time. Sack the board! Edited March 14, 2007 by KPatel
Nebraska Red Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 This is what they do in American 'soccer'. Very stupid proposal. they do not have a penalty kick shootout in regular season games. if the game is tied at the end, they play some extra time and it is still tied, so be it. i am not a fan of doing away with tied games, but i would like to see teams that draw 0-0 getting no points at all.

You've been in Looneyville too long mate. Some of the best games I've ever seen have been 0-0's
San Diego Red Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Some of the best games I've ever seen have been 0-0'sFairly accurate.
John am Rhein Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 You've been in Looneyville too long mate. Some of the best games I've ever seen have been 0-0's But also some of the worst. If the objective of football is to score goals then why should you get a point for failing to score one?
magneto Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Away win should be 4 pointsHome win should be 3 pointsScore draw should be 2 points0 - 0 draw should be 1 point
jariiiiiiiiiise Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 how cool if your West Ham or Chalton you could put 11 behind the ball and wait for penalties when your playing a big team that sounds like good television to me
Swan Red Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 i am not a fan of doing away with tied games, but i would like to see teams that draw 0-0 getting no points at all. oh do f*** off so watford come to Anfield defend resolutely and get a draw for no pint stupid f***ing nonsense Away win should be 4 pointsHome win should be 3 pointsScore draw should be 2 points0 - 0 draw should be 1 point are you serious? ffs
Gilps Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 But also some of the worst. If the objective of football is to score goals then why should you get a point for failing to score one? Is it not equally the objective to stop the opposition scoring goals?
Cobs Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I'd be quite happy to see a penalty shoot out at the end of every game - not to get bonus points or anything but to run as a separate penalty shoot out league, first as a bit of fun and secondly in the hope that come an International tournament England players might be sufficiently practised to win one. [obviously i am aware that i'm in the minority of giving a schit about the England team, so there's no need to start... ] i also appreciate that having so many foreign players in the League now we'd be giving practice to them too but.....
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 (edited) the 0-0=0points suggestion is not the worst I have heard. It would certainly eliminate the games where one team makes camp in their own half from the first whistle and try and stand the distance. If you start the game with nothing you have to try and play ball to get something out of it. It's not too dissimilar from the away goal rule which also encourages teams that would otherwise just defend all the way to try and get a goal or two away from home as it's worth more. I think it would have a positive impact on football. Edited March 15, 2007 by Anders Honoré
Cobs Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 i think teams would still come to places like Anfield, OT and the Emirates and put everyone behind the ball and try to score on the break as they do now, with only a shift in tactics (if it's 0-0) in the last 10 or so minutes of games.

Exactly. Besides, they're not going to get any points for getting beat 3-0 either, but at least trying to hold out for the 0-0 might help their goal difference a bit.
magneto Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 are you serious? ffs Of course I'm not serious ffs This whole topic is ludicrous to begin with but if the Premier League or whoever do decide to start giving different "weighting" to results then my suggestion wouldn't be too far off. Sorry for contributing to the debate.
