Pepe Reina: 'Our child's a Scouser'

Reina wants Reds stay

 

Jose Reina is hoping to pledge his long-term future to Liverpool.

 

The Spanish goalkeeper is set to hold talks with the club over the summer about extending his deal at Anfield.

 

Reina has been linked with a move back to Spain, but the 24-year-old insists he is settled at Liverpool.

 

"I am happy here and want to stay," said Reina.

 

"We will talk about a new deal in the summer.

 

"I have two years left but I want to look beyond that. My wife and I have just had our first child and she's a Scouser.

 

"Maybe next time I'll have a son and he can play for Spain or England!"

Great news.

 

Think Pepe is the best keeper we have had since 'Mighty Bruce'. This is backed up with his record, gaining numerous clean sheets.

 

The way we play our midfield and defense don't give the keeper too much to do, but Pepe still excels. When the team pushes up the field Reina acts as 'the sweeper keeper' and very effectively. His distribution is excellent and I think with the modern ball he is right to punch more often than not in the air.

 

Top player and young for a keeper. Could be our keeper for 10-15 years, which is good news for us but bad news for Carson.

yeah, be great if Pepe signs a new deal. As all goalies, he has his eccentricities But he suits our team perfectly, and having stability in that position is imperative!

 

One of the top 3 goalies in this league, and in a few years time, he'll be the best, he's still only a babe in goalie terms.
