suzyv Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Read this on tribal football what do you think cant believe he has already met with them but dont like the sound of the last quote from Raffa. "Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon wants to bring Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez back to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of this season. The News of the World says the scenario unfolded after a long meeting in Munich after Real's Champions League exit at Bayern Munich on Wednesday. It ended with sporting director Pedja Mijatovic being instructed by president Ramon Calderon to find a Spanish boss to replace the Italian. Benitez, 46, is the leading candidate to land a three-year deal after his success with Valencia. There has already been a meeting between Benitez and Mijatovic last month, when the Kop chief's options were discussed in light of the Reds takeover by Americans George Gillett and Tom Hicks. Real were sufficiently encouraged to think that they can prise Benitez away from Anfield. His agent Manuel Garcia Quilon: "I am in constant contact with Real on many subjects but have to be secret about any theme." Benitez said: "Real Madrid? I know the club perfectly - it is one of the best in the world and certainly for any Spanish coach it will be a dream to be on their bench. "It is impossible to discard this but many things would need to pass." " What do you think could he be tempted.
knoxy67 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Probably in the future, but not before his possibilities at Anfield have been completed
Gomez Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Probably in the future, but not before his possibilities at Anfield have been completed There was an article in one of the papers quoting a spanish paper a couple of days ago saying that real want Rafa but think they have no chance of getting him at the moment so going for mourinho when he gets sacked. I still think Rafa would be made to go there, Capello's been there like what? 8 months?A new owner, but nothing has changed.
spencer Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 or this nonsense from Patrick collins in the Mail: "But Rafael Benitez is restless. More than that, he has American owners who regard his club as a "franchise". And, even more than that, Real Madrid are fluttering a seductive cheque book. So Benitez takes his decision and slaps on the Factor 40". It's just the usual rubbish, though I'm sure Real would love to get him.
knoxy67 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I'm sure it's the usual rubbish, surely most big clubs in Europe, would like to have Rafa, but he's at the biggest and is always telling us how happy he is to be here
Benitez Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Tribull Football? OK! Anyway, we always know this will happen - it's like clockwork, every year, usually 2 or 3 times a year, Real Madrid have a crisis, and Rafa is the first name linked. Just got to put up with it. Right now, I'd see Maurenho as more of a possibility for 'em. He has 'issues' with his clubs owners, not Rafa!
Kahnee Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Right now, I'd see Maurenho as more of a possibility for 'em. He has 'issues' with his clubs owners, not Rafa! Add the fact that Sven's Mrs has been blabbing about the fact they're staying in england and he's signed for a Prem club...
JohnnyH Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Rafa wont be pushed. He knows that the job will become available every 6 months anyway.
Keita Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Rick Parrys comments dont help, everytime the job comes up he will be linked with it. Maybe sooner then we think he will go but I dont think its just yet.

psl Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 This kind of thing gets me really angry. How can anyone still think there are 2 f's in Rafa?
Benitez Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 This kind of thing gets me really angry. How can anyone still think there are 2 f's in Rafa? Aye, I was going to mention that an all, at least spell his name right
Guest ritchie_50 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 This kind of thing gets me really angry. How can anyone still think there are 2 f's in Rafa? One F in Rafa, there's only one f in Rafa.
psl Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 One F in Rafa, there's only one f in Rafa. Too f'ing right
guernseygareth Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 is rafa a 'madrid' manager? he has the history i know but his style of play seems a little against the current/historical imagining of how real must play. then again so is capello and moanreen.
Benitez Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 is rafa a 'madrid' manager? he has the history i know but his style of play seems a little against the current/historical imagining of how real must play. then again so is capello and moanreen. Right now, Madrid need to win things, and that aint happening. So whatever style they have had recently, won't be making their fans too happy! Too much is said of Rafa's style tbh. He's no Maurenho. Rafa's teams can play some wonderful football, but he also knows when the time is right to dig deep and be defensive, and his teams will play within their means. He has plans A to Z.
Bailo Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 (edited) he has the history i know but his style of play seems a little against the current/historical imagining of how real must play. This resistance to playing "Rafa's" style and playing their own precious style is the reason why Real and Barca aren't in the QFs of the CL. Edited March 11, 2007 by Phorum Dunce
Cooger Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Well we all know he is going no where. But regarding Real Madrid. Who would want to go there? The team really is in a mess. Defensively poor, midfield nothing special and take away Horseface they would look weak going forward. Think that team needs loads of work.
Guest ritchie_50 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 This resistance to playing "Rafa's" style and playing their own precious style is the reason why Real and Barca aren't in the QFs of the CL. Real have been defensive and dire to watch all season. They were left off the leash yesterday because they needed the 3 points and Barca were playing 3 at the back and there for the taking; especally with 10 men.
Cam Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 It's a very real possibility, Parry said he came close to going last summer and talks happened. But he'd be insane to. He'd start his job, crack down on the Galacticos, buy four table-legs, have them working hard, have some success, the legends will come out against non-Real football, the fans will get on his back (look how we reacted after the defeat to the Mancs - YNWA, can you see the Real fans being so warm after a last minute defeat to Barca?), the directors will panic (especially at re-election time) and go out and buy seven sofas at £25m each.
chiliking Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Well, I think Moanhino may be their man, after he admitted being in quarrels with Abra. This and the fact that both Lampard and now Terry has problems with their contract talks suggests to me that they are in Madrid next season. The top four clubs apparently have a deal that none of them will pay more than £ 100' aweek, so there's surely more players to follow.
DonRafa Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 (edited) Who the the feck is Raffa? Edited March 11, 2007 by DonRafa
Mr Makaveli Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 seriously, tribal football? look everyone knows there is nothing to this... stop worrying, Rafa isnt stupid enough to to go to Real. He might love the club but deep down he knows that his style of football would have him sacked in less than 2 years no matter what he won. Then where would he be? He will stay at liverpool for the next few years aslong as things continue to improve and the fans will love him for it.
