When Crouch went for that one shot on goal against the Mancs (the one Van Der Sar saved) I felt he could have headed it in instead of kicking it.

What's his heading ability like now with his nose bust up? I feel he may have deliberately waited for the ball to drop to his feet because of his injury.

Okay..whatever the circumstances of the height of the ball...can he still head the ball given his injury?

If he couldn't he wouldn't have played you'd hope. Personally, I think if he'd attacked the ball and headed it, it would have been harder to miss. Wonder if a fear or lack of confidence made him step back and take it down ?

Whether that was due to his nose being a tad sore, or he's got a complex with everyone saying how s***e he is with his head, who knows

I'm assuming as you aim to head the ball with your forehead and not your schnozz, he should be OK. But then as McBain intimates, the assumption may not be correct in Crouchy's context ;)

In the Echo today.

He is booked in for an operation on Friday. It means he will be out for 3-4 weeks. However he is asking the doctor if it matters if he waits until the end of the season. He says he thinks his breathing is fine. No mention of heading so i presume that is no problem either

The fact that he won more headers in his brief cameo against the Mancs than he has done in many other games should provide a clue to the above questions.

can we ask the surgeon to insert a metal plate in his head as well?

add little Luis' springy legs to his...

that way, he can head the ball at its highest apex...damn sure that no one will get any headers off him!!! :hooked:

Watch the cross again and you'll see that Crouchy was backing away because of the flight of the ball. Was a difficult ball to put power into and direct, esp so close to the goal, while backtracking.

i thought he plummed for the right option... i'd of said a shot from that distance would prove more of a challenge than a header. Im not football player though, so go figure!

why was he backtracking if not so he could try avoid heading the ball?

did you even stop to think that because even with a leap, the cross would still have gone over his head...?

so by backtracking it hit him on the chest, but if he stayed where he was it would have gone over his head? Apparently.

Does Crouch actually have a head? :bryanrobson:

Conversely if Crouchy had headed the ball and put it in his usual spot of stomach height in the middle of the goal, he'd probably have scored cos Van der Saar was scrambling across to reach the back post.
