Leo No.8 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Amazing how often a player who scores an own goal gets one at the other end. Considering it's often defenders, the odds against it happening should be huge but it occurs far more often than you'd think. I reckon it's the desperation of the player to make up for his error - Alex's leap was incredible last night, given that extra push by the guilt of having stuck one in his own net. When Hleb gave that free-kick away I had a total premonition of Alex scoring, just knew it was going to happen.

Guy_Incognito Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 (edited) up steps avi cohen........ "And at the same end, he's got one back!" First thing I thought about as well. Edited March 8, 2007 by Guy_Incognito
Cobs Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 it's like players coming back to their old club to score every time it happens someone always goes 'isn't it amazing how many times a player comes back to his old club to score...' yet no-one bats an eyelid on the countless occasions it doesn't happen. In short, yes, it does happen sometimes but nothing like as often as i bet you think it does.
RP Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 "A spit roast" is the modern footballing term, I believe.
_00_deathscar Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Xabi nearly got one back when he put one into his own net against Brum last season.
Koogan Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I remember Southampton's (or was he at Villa?) Chris Nicholl scoring twice for both teams in one match. Ended 2-2 if I remember correctly.
KD07 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I had a totally different idea coming into this thread and now I shall take my leave to inflict further admonishment upon myself.
