IgPig Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Unless your name is Smith, Pleat will struggle but I think its worth mentioning that both were very complimentary about a lot of our players (Pleat seemed to like "Ebola") and Rafa's tactics (although I wish Pleat had kept his complimentary stuff about Rafa to himself for the 1st 80 minutes) Credit where credit is due, given we make new threads when Gray says anything negative.
Cheesecake Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 yep Pleat was bigging Rafa up for his tactics all thru the game saying how he was way ahead of Rijkaard in both games and kept praising the defensive strength
DonRafa Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Unless your name is Smith, Pleat will struggle but I think its worth mentioning that both were very complimentary about a lot of our players (Pleat seemed to like "Ebola") and Rafa's tactics (although I wish Pleat had kept his complimentary stuff about Rafa to himself for the 1st 80 minutes) Credit where credit is due, given we make new threads when Gray says anything negative. Yep. TBH it was refreshing not to have to suffer Andy Gray's mealy mouthed commentary on our game for a change
floyd Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 But Balmy Night Clive was still going through all the changes Barca needed to do, to have chances of scoring against us.
DanielS Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 (edited) When we tried something a bit different with one of the free-kicks Pleat didn't do the normal Andy Gray thing of whining about missed oppurtunities. He actually recognised what was going on and praised us for trying to bring some inventiveness to set pieces. I was so shocked to hear a pundit being positive I almost fell out of my armchair. Its too big and comfy for that though. Edited March 7, 2007 by DanielS
Spike Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I was stood near their little box in the upper anny and none of them watched the game live. They had their back to the glass and were watching in on telly. clunts
DJM Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 But Balmy Night Clive was still going through all the changes Barca needed to do, to have chances of scoring against us. Aye, he didnt hide his disappointment that well. "Even if Liverpool equalise now it means nothing"
Earl Hafler Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 But Balmy Night Clive was still going through all the changes Barca needed to do, to have chances of scoring against us. Tiddlesley is nuts. When we got the freekick late on, he said that if Liverpool score now, " it doesn't really change a great deal ". Course it fecking would have.
McBain Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Tyldsley is alright. Dont mind him at all. Peter Drury is the one to mute
Mondavi Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 If ever there was a manc who was comfortable praising us it's tyldesley. He covered all our past european triumphs for radio, and despite being a rabid manc from his school days, he is not anti-LFC as you'd expect, presumably due to being exposed to all that glory
Woodsyla Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 If ever there was a manc who was comfortable praising us it's tyldesley. He covered all our past european triumphs for radio, and despite being a rabid manc from his school days, he is not anti-LFC as you'd expect, presumably due to being exposed to all that glory He picked out banners, he acknowledged our history, he recognised chants and mentioned them on air and he allowed Pleat to heap praise on us. As a commentator who is not a fan and supports our bitter rivals I'd suggest he did a very professional job. Pleat gave some of the best tactical analysis I've heard from a cocommentator on the TV and the after match analysis was remarkably good. Maybe ITV have spotted that there is room for intelligent punditry and are at least having a go at it. ROFLMAO of at Robbie Earle looking bemused and into the wrong camera infront of a deafening KOP
Red_Rob Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Watching the Irish commentary, George Hamilton called Sissoko 'Sudoko'.
techmob Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Tyldsley saying if we scored it wouldn't of ment anything ofcourse it fking would, it would of stopped us loosing in normal time if barcelona would have scored a second that one slipped his mind
Bigal Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 when the board went up for 3 mins injury time Tyldsley said "3 mins left for barcelona to get there goal" Not "3 mins left for liverpool to hold on"
Benitez Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 David Pleat was ace. Yes he jumbles up names and has mad ways of pronouncing them (which can be funny!), but he ACTUALLY talks about the game (take note every fecer on sky and BBC). Rather than prattle on about other things, he talks about the game going on, and has a very good grasp on what is happening, and on tactics, which is a nice fecin change. Thought the commentator was s**** tho.
Tommy Cockles Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Thought it was an unmitigated love-in by ITV last night to be honest. Especially with regards to the fans. The kind of thing that drives the Mancs & the Bluesh*te mad The close up of the jester-hatted Asians in the front row of the Kop was especially for our Goodison cousins.

DJM Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 One other Tyldsley annoyance was when he said "Great news from Stamford Bridge - Chelsea have equalised" Great news my hole.
Extraordinary Swindle Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Watching the Irish commentary, George Hamilton called Sissoko 'Sudoko'.Correction: Sissoku
Woodsyla Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 One other Tyldsley annoyance was when he said "Great news from Stamford Bridge - Chelsea have equalised" Great news my hole. What the f*** is an English commentator expected to say about an English club scoring on English terrestrial TV.
_00_deathscar Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 What the f*** is an English commentator expected to say about an English club scoring on English terrestrial TV. "Russian Rentboys can f*** right off."?
Guz Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 when the board went up for 3 mins injury time Tyldsley said "3 mins left for barcelona to get there goal" Not "3 mins left for liverpool to hold on" Oh do calm down. When we got a free kick in injury time, then a corner and then Pennant had the shot all he was bothered about was the clock ticking down and barcelona not scoring. ITV have been very supportive of us in recent years.
Rich Gobey Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Pleat has always been a good co-commentator, the best out there. His tactical analysis in the Guardian is well worth checking out too.
