because I'm sick of all those t***s in the Guardian who drone on and on about our results against the best of Europe being lucky and freak results.

I'm fed up with all the c nuts who slag us of just because they are envious.

I'm up to the eyeball of reading that our result in the Camp Nou was due to the fact that Barca are going through a bad patch.

Dicks the lot.

Well said that Archeologist. Couldn't agree more :thumbs:

You could spend a whole day over golf flashing cheesey knowing grins at a certain legend if we do too - can't be bad!

Couldn't give a f*** about winning well. Just want to go through.

Absolutely. Being totally played off the park and losing 0-1 would do me.

Hammering them would be nice, though, as well.

To quote Gerard Butler in the forthcoming film 300

"We're in for one hell of a night"

If we score first, what are the chances of Mr. Clive Tyldsley saying these words "That doesn't alter things too much in that Barcelona still need to score twice" ?

Posted

Oh and no yellow cards. I'd take a nil-nil with no yellow cards ahead of a 3-0 with five.

Think it's going to be a long night though.

So who do we have on yellow cards?

At full time, yes. But the thoughts of what we would experience between them scoring and the FT whistle is frightening.

Can't be any worse than watching us score against Chelsea at the start of the match ... that was a very, very nice whistle.

I'm not sure if this is better here or in the 'productivity' thread but anyway...

Euro VI, Act III scene 1

Anfield. Before Barcelona.

Alarum. Enter RAFA, CARRAGHER, GERRARD, and Players

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;

Or close the wall up with our central defence.

In peace there's nothing so becomes a man

As modest stillness and humility:

But when the blast of war blows in our ears,

Then imitate the action of Graham Souness;

Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,

Disguise Fairclough nature with hard-favour'd rage;

Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;

Let pry through the portage of the head

Like a last gasp Gerrard shot; let the brow o'erwhelm it

As fearfully as doth a galled Ron Yeats

O'erhang and jutty his confounded opponent,

Swill'd with the wild red tide.

Now set the teeth and like Fowler stretch the nostril wide,

Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit

To his full Crouch like height. On, on, you noblest team.

Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!

Fathers, so many like Dalglish, Liddell,

Have in these parts from morn till even fought

And sheathed their footballs for lack of argument:

Dishonour not your supporters; now attest

That those whom played here before did beget you.

Be copy now to footballers of grosser blood,

And teach them how to win. And you, good players,

Whose team was made in Liverpool, show us here

The mettle of Anfield's pasture; let us swear

That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;

For there is none of you so mean and base,

That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,

Straining upon the whistle. The game's afoot:

Follow your spirit, and upon this charge

Cry 'God for Fowler, Shankly, and St. John!'

(With apologies to Wm. Shakespeare)

I have my money on a 4-1 victory. A tenner with the odds of 101.

I had a dream last night that we won the game 1-0 (it was a penalty .....I can't remember who took the penalty though ......and for some reason Barcalona were wearing Athletico Madrid shirts!) So just give me the £10 and we'll call it quits.

Was it Gary Mac and you were having a flashback ?

I'm giving a conference at 17.00 on the strategic aspects of mergers in the energy sector of the EU to a select group of Spanish businessmen.

I've just got one thing on my mind: the game - I can't give a f eck about anything else

I intend to end the conference by saying "...and Good luck to Liverpool tonight"

I'll probably get things trown at me ;) (Won't be the first or last time either :))

I was so confident after the game at the Camp Nou. However, I am starting to have those nagging doubts. I keep seeing flashes of last season at home to Benfica and the Arsenal FA Cup game in January. Please make it stop

Very different game IMO. Onus is on them to attack, we're going to get a bit more space than that game.
