Figaro Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Valdes Puyol Thuram Zambrotta Marquez Xavi Deco Iniesta Ronaldingo Gudjohnssen Messi Eto'o to come on in early in the second half. Or Eto'o on first to be repalced by the Icelandic chav early in the second half. Eto'o is still not totally fit.
Maldini Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Zambrotta at CB? Bit of a waste, man to man on Bellamy? We'd walk all over that midfield too.
Guest Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I think Rijkaard is hoping to grab a quick goal - then he'll drop Marquez into the traditional back four to stiffen the back line and rely on Ronaldingo to hit a free kick for the second. He was furious with Guily after the Sevilla game for letting Alves make him lose his rag - but he could also repeat the Guily-Ronaldingo-Messi front line and bring on the African warrior and the Icelandic Chav if they still needa goal in the 2nd half. he has his possibilities does Frank
Ed the Wool Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Rijkaard seems to be cracking if his press conference is anything to go by. A lot of pressure on him after the first leg. You never know which Barca will turn up. Hope its the lazy, terrified by the Kop one, and we score 3 in the first 20 mins.

Guest Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 (edited) I reckon he will go Ronaldingo Messi and Eto'o just to show that he, Rijkaard, is up for it Edited March 6, 2007 by Figaro
Owen1978 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Hope they have dodgy curry and get the sh*ts, that will be there gameplan down the toilet!
psl Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I reckon he will go Ronaldingo Messi and Eto'o just to show that he, Rijkaard, is up for it Are you saying you think Eto'o will start now?
Stew F Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 We need the 12th man tonight. Is right - don't think ive ever been so up for a game - cacking it though
Rory Fitzgerald Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Was listening to Graham Hunter on the radio this morning and his thoughts were something like this; Barca will probably set up 3-4-3, a system Barca has only started to experiment with recently under Rijkaard. The full backs will be dispensed with and thats were Liverpool can hit them. Though Benitez has probably not set up against a side playing 3-4-3, given his penchant for gathering every scr@p of detail, he would be expected to set his team up properly and not be surprised by the Barca set up. Hunter expects Riise to maybe hit Barca down the left and maybe Gerrard down the right with Bellamy working and pulling the back 3 wide. Barca have a glass jaw after recent defeats and Liverpool have a chance to, not just knock them out, but floor them. He was of the opinion that Messi and Eto'o are back too soon and that the front 3 will be picked from Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Messi and Giuly. He gives Barca an outside chance to go through
Guest Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Are you saying you think Eto'o will start now? three up front - Eto'o will figure whether it's from the start is up to Rijkaard - I now think he'll risk it and play him from the start. Once he tires on comes the Icelandic chav. Rijkaard is being awfully cocky - he's never been like this pre-match before
Knox_Harrington Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Rijkaard might be trying to inject some cockiness into his team who need it and play better when they have it.
Stevie H Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 they need to score first and early. it makes sense that he's bigging them up. we need to put a few reducers on them in the first ten minutes. carra can do to ronaldinho what he did to rooney.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 they need to score first and early. it makes sense that he's bigging them up. I suppose he is trying to materialise that intangible feeling of fear that may be in the Liverpool camp, his team demonstrated for 20 to 30 mins in the Nou Camp what they can do but Liverpool staff and players must hammer home the other 60mins of what we did in their back yard ! If attack was the best form of defence in the Nou Camp then it is surely the same diagnosis and prescription tonight. Sitting back wont do it, Barca have a weak under-belly and now with a 3 man defence - I think Benitez will set us up for strong counter attacks at the least, or at most, the way we hit Juve 2 years ago

I think thats probably correct. The first 20 minutes or so are going to be crucial for us. If we concede an early goal, they will be buzzing, and when they are, they are pretty much unstoppable. If we weather the early storm, their play will become less calculated and more urgent, and we should have a few chances to hit them on the break. If we succeed and score first, their play will become even more urgent, allowing us to hit them again and finish off the tie.
Tyler Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Ronaldingo Messi and Eto'o Barcelona have never lost a game where all 3 started
Case Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Who of ours are on bookings? Alonso and Agger? I think Kuyt ans Momo are the only two on a "yellow pending suspension" for the next game. Personally, I'd be delighted if we HAVE a next game. Ronaldingo Messi and Eto'o Barcelona have never lost a game where all 3 started Fine - Let's hope they maintain this. With a 5-5 draw.
DonRafa Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Ronaldingo Messi and Eto'o Barcelona have never lost a game where all 3 started More importantly, they've never played at Anfield - we'll EAT 'em!

IF Ronny is on the end of one of those he will keep rolling until he lands in the Mersey.
