anfield11 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I've felt for a while that Momo is way too overhyped. Yes, he's a bag of energy and a little pit bull going for the ball, but in possession, far too often he has brain cramp...especially going forward. He needs to get some composure in his game or Mascherano is going to have his spot easily.
Guest Sabre Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Yes, I wonder why there isn't already a discussion about this.
Jimi Rojo Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 He was an embarrassment today and I dont like saying that.
Cunny Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 second game back from injury and in the first game he was man of the match in the nou camp.yes he was poor today but get a grip
anfield11 Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 second game back from injury and in the first game he was man of the match in the nou camp.yes he was poor today but get a grip Doesn't hide the fact that a very important part of any players game is missing.
psl Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 He had a poor game today admittedly but he's been pretty much perfect since he signed for us and is just back from injury. Give him a break.
RafaShanks Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 You can never have enough Momo threads I find...
Earl Hafler Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 He had a poor game today admittedly but he's been pretty much perfect since he signed for us and is just back from injury. Give him a break. F**k me. Could he be more hyped ?
psl Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 F**k me. Could he be more hyped ? In terms of what he's in the side for, he does it brilliantly. I suggest you go and watch extra time in the FA Cup Final again. Perhaps perfect was a little excessive admittedly...
Romario Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Anyone notice all the strapping he had on his ribs? Saw it when he was scratching/adjusting his top. Perhaps he was carrying an injury. Might explain.
CarraLegend Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Whatever people think of his performance he still helped totally dominate midfield and his tackle on Ronaldo in the first half was brilliant. His 50 foot kick up in the air was a bit mental though but made me piss myself laughing at the time.
The Invisible Man Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 He wasn't that bad. His passing was wayward but that's his one weakness. He wasn't bought in to spread 40 yard passes that is what Alonso and Gerrard are for. He covers a lot of ground and breaks up moves. So he had an off day, but his failing didn't let United run wild. The scored a jammy goal off a free kick, give him a break. He has been one of our best players this and last season. If anyone has been below par this year it has been Gerrard.

He doesnt need to do 40 yard passes you're right. But he should watch and learn from Makelele who 99 times out of 100 keeps it dead simple and gives it to someone else to use wisely. Thats all Momo needs to do most of the time but too sometimes he chooses the wrong options. He was excellent last year but I have to admit I think he's been a bit gash this season with brilliant performances like Barca away dotted around. Obviously he's missed a big chunk of the season but before his injury he was equally inconsistent in my view. He's only 21 or 22, so he will improve and I'm genuinely excited by his [potential] development
quibs Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I take it everyone with the knee jerk reaction will be blaming momo today then... Momo is boss... No one will be complaining on tuesday night when he's had a blinder..
Guest JV Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I thought he broke up the play well, he just can't pass or shoot for shlt but we knew that anyway.

True, but once Mascherano settles/is fully match fit, I can see him being first choice in the centre alongside Xabi against the other big teams and Stevie being moved out to the right.
jfogarty Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Knew this thread would appear and knew it would be rubbish Actually a Liverpool supporting mate told me last Monday that Diaby is twice the player Momo is. That was a rubbish argument too

He had a bad game today, one bad game doesnt mean he is a bad player.
Big E Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 The problem unlike Makelele is that Momo tends to collect the ball higher up the pitch where there's less time and it's harder to pick a pass. I think we just have to accept his limitations, like any player. Still love him tho. You'll never get past Sissoko.

Shocking performance.
Stevie H Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 yes, he had a 'mare today. but he's got enough credits in the bank to excuse this kneejerk foolishness.
Nebraska Red Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 there will be games where we need Sissoko's style of play and there will be games when he needs to rest. we did not need him today as they were not really competing in the middle for the ball. his passing does need improving and he needs to be more aware of what is going on around him when he has the ball. today's game called for a midfielder driving forward to fill in the gaps when Bellamy went wide, but we did not have that player today. come Tuesday, we will need Sissoko's engine and his ability to put the opposition off their game.
