I find him very frustrating myself. Nobody can knock his work rate and the way he helps the midfield but hes rarely in the right spot to knock the goals in.

This isnt a knee jerk reaction I have been saying it for a while. Hes a good second striker and when we get someone with genuine goalscoring ability we'll be laughing

for75 mins he was fecking brilliant. I havent been convinced before, but today i though he was excellent.

how the feck did we lose that? how the feck are they top of the leage, they are s****.

Yes, I am amazed no-one else has mentioned Kuyt. Thought he was one of our Man of the Matches today. People tend to forget he is not an out-and-out striker, he works all over the pitch as the second man. Far as I am concerned, he has already shown us why RAFA paid what he did for him.

I'm still far from convinced on him. His touch his very poor, one of the worst in the side, and he just isn't the out and out goal scorer that we needed. His hold up play isn't as good as Crouch's, his skill, pace and goal threat isn't as good as Bellamy and his finishing isn't as good as Fowler's. His work rate is his stand out feature but for me that isn't what w need at the moment, and he wasn't anywhere near 'excellent' today, by any stretch of the imagination...

i hope that todays display is the real dirk kuyt. Rafa bough him to play between the lines, and today he did it very very well.

although i do beleive that if he didnt work quite so hard, perhaps he will be more a threat in the box, and be less f***ed when he does got chances. your concentration goes when your f***ed. maybe if he slowed down just a bit, he would have more composure when he gets chances to score.

all of that is just plain b******s

Great reply! So if it is all bollcoks then you think; Kuyt is quicker than Bellamy and better finisher than Fowler. Are you blind stupid or both?

Well I agree with you anyway ;)

Kuyt is ok. I consider him to be a good player. If he finds the net more often and beats a man more reguarly he d be a great striker. So far he s been good. It still his first season at Anfield so I am reserving my final judgement atm.

I think the majority of fans took to Kuyt right away. He is a hard worker and seems like a great lad. However, when we have a crowded midfield with Momo, Gerrard and Alonso he seems to almost get in the way. He spends far too much time in other parts of the pitch then right in the box. We need a predator and poacher when we play at home especially because we do create chances. Away from home he seems to fit in better with his workrate and energy.

I do think Rafa has been too patient with him in games and has left him on for 90 minutes when he is clearly going to get nothing.

he'll end up with 15 league goals this season and is involved in just about every move and chance we create. yes, he operates a bit too deep on occasion but i don't think that there's much at all wrong with his game at the moment. we've other issues.

Kuyt is a good player but not an out and out finisher. With the right partner up front he'd be even better IMO. I do wish at times he'd get into the box more because with Momo and Alonso unlikely do score we're not getting any goals from our two central midfielders.

he will settle in and start knocking in more goals. He still has some adjusting to do, maybe not just because of the league change though.. He needs to work more as a striker... However I think he's a fantastic player and is very valuable to the team. for the doubters, give him time.

Well his first touch isn't very poor, that's a bit harsh to say the least. As for the complaints about him not being an out and out goalscorer and spending too much time outside the penalty area, I'd wager that it probably has a lot to do with Rafa's instructions. I don't think we're ever going to see Rafa playing with two out and out strikers on a regular basis, he'll always want somebody playing deeper, linking our midfield and attack. I think Kuyt performs this role very well - none of his individual attributes standout but he also has no major failings either and this together with his excellent workrate make him a great addition to the team, imo.

Oh, and saying that he wasn't excellent today "by any stretch of the imagination" is a far more inaccurate assessment of his performance than allezlesrouges'

Bellamy should be the provider when we get a goal scorer in my view.

Dirk is a good player, I very much like his effort, he has obvious talent, but I think that Bellamy is a better player and we could use his direct style to provide more opportunities and use his great pace.

I think we should try Mascherano and Alonso partnering in midfield.

When Alonso first came, he was partnered with Didi and was immense playing higher up the pitch, providing those killer balls and chipping in with a few hiimself.

We need to see him higher up the pitch and i think Masch can bring that out of him.

When kuyt dropped off in the second half we looked a lot better and started to dominate the ball

I wouldnt of brought bellamy off, I thought we where causing them all kinds of problems and we shouldnt have changed it

I think this is actually a valid point. I'd like to see Xabi further up the pitch linking midfield to attack and not defence to midfield. Gerrard isn't a sitter either so that wouldn't be the pairing if fou want Xabi up the pitch. I do think Gerrard should be central in some formation, even though he was good Saturday on the right, he's more consistent when central.

leaving matters on the pitch to the side for a moment, i wish kuyt would shut the f*** up and stop talking about what we are going to do in upcoming matches. he's on record saying we are going to do everton, manu and now barca.

How anyone can think Dirk was 'Excellent' against United is beyond me, his 1st touch, close control and running with the ball was appalling. Most times his 2nd touch was either a tackle or he didn't get one because Scholes had taken the ball off him.

I'm not saying he won't come good, although I doubt it, but if you take his phenomenal workrate away and look at his attributes as either a striker or support player, he is behind both Bellamy and Crouch.

Bellamy tore Vidic a new @ss all game, Gerrard battered Evra so badly that he was replaced by Silvestre, and Carra - Agger made you forget that Rooney and Larsson were even on the pitch. Kuyt ran around a lot, miscontrolled the ball a lot, and along with Momo agve every other ball away.
