Dee Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 to the same standard as the manc c.nts and chavs? why can't we consistently perform and win the ugly games and fluke others.f.cking depressing
RafaShanks Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 We don't believe in ourselves. Wrong answer. Not enough quality where it counts.
_00_deathscar Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Wrong answer. Not enough quality where it counts. We have plenty of quality, as proven by the number of chances we create ~ you need to believe in yourself to win the ugly/fluky games. And we don't do that. It seems we only start to really get going once something is against us...
lawrie Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 we were doing a bit of an Arsenal today - too often trying to walk the ball in the net
DonRafa Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Wrong answer. Not enough quality where it counts. Aye, and that quality is very expensive, we have'nt been able to compete with the scum and chelsea at the very top of the market. Expect that to change this summer........................then watch us go!
Dee Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 we were doing a bit of an Arsenal today - too often trying to walk the ball in the nethardly - we have tonnes of long shots, 20 yarders...as someone mentioned above -we seem to be able to 'perform' in spurts, esp when the outcome is visible (i.e. big games in CL to progress, beating the chavs etc..) but week in week out we do ok, win more than lose, but never consistent enough WHY IS THAT?
Guz Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 We have plenty of quality, as proven by the number of chances we create ~ you need to believe in yourself to win the ugly/fluky games. And we don't do that. It seems we only start to really get going once something is against us... Proven by what chances? Bellamy had one ruled offside from a fluffed shot from Riise, Crouch missed on near the end and Gerrard lashed at one on his left foot under a lot of pressure, the other two were long range efforts from Riise. Against arsenal in the cup we had lots of possesion but very few clear chances. Against chelsea we had more but again a lot of long range efforts but that time we took the chances we had. The only time under Rafa I can remember us having a lot of chances was Chelsea away this year, we usually have lots of posession, lots of long shots, lots of corners but one or two decent chances. I'm talking about against arsenal, chelsea and united of course, not anyone else in the league. Agree with your 2nd point though, sometimes we need to go a goal down before playing properly, but that seems to more of an issue against lesser teams away from home. We're still short of a threatening winger and someone trusted enough to put away chances, though. That said, we did alright today, weren't outclassed by anyone and seemed quite comfortable but it's not enough
Coyler Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 It's annoying all right. There is something missing about us, for all our good runs and great results. We'll know what it was when we get it. Hopefully Rafa already knows what it is.
Dee Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 we battered them all over the park, short of a goal it was a good performance - but not a win
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 We seem to be doing worse with an arguably stronger squad than last season. I think the key points are the failure to sign a top class striker, the injury to Harry Kewell and earlier in the season loss of form of key players.
Jim D Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Simple....we just aren't good enough away from home, our home form is brilliant regardless of the result today. Rafa has made Anfield a fortress again and thats what you need to challenge for the title. Sort out that away form for next season and we have got a chance. Mancs have now won 11 games away, we have only won 5, there lies the difference. I think this kind of reflects the lack of pace in our attacking play away from home, Mancs can counter attack with frightening effect whereas ours is non existent.
Guest ritchie_50 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) We're not positive or direct enough in the league and try and play a European game. It usually works well at home but in the big games we need to step it up at times and our problems are away from home. If you look at United and Chelsea's goals (including today) they're often just a scrappy goal from a set piece but its asking too much from our players, to actually get a delivery into the box. Cunny Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 not enough goalswe need a world class goalscorer and decent wide players
alias75 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I just think its all about starting the league strong, in the last 2 seasons Rafa's brought in a lot of new faces and they take time to settle, if you start slowly its very hard to make up that ground. Hopefully we dont make wholesale changes to the team but bring in 2 or 3 top quality players. We then need to be switched on from game 1 in the league and if we start well that will make the league a priority and hopefully that momentum will carry through.
R A Softlad Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 we battered them all over the park, short of a goal it was a good performance - but not a win I disagree. We deserved the win and were robbed of it by a poor linesman.
lawrie Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 hardly - we have tonnes of long shots, 20 yarders...as someone mentioned above -we seem to be able to 'perform' in spurts, esp when the outcome is visible (i.e. big games in CL to progress, beating the chavs etc..) but week in week out we do ok, win more than lose, but never consistent enough WHY IS THAT? aye, we did that too, it certainly is a conundrum

We won plenty of away games last year though but only beat arsenal at home out of them, chelsea and united. Again this year, all we have to show against the top sides is a home win to chelsea with only arsenal to come. Too many defeats against the top sides next year will ruin our title challenge again, whatever we do against the rest.
Magic8Ball Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 We cant let them get the treble - we have to win the CL

In fact wasn't there a time when our away record was better than at home Perhaps the answer is a joint GH/RB management team
Mike Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 hang on a minute. i was at the match today and we f***ing battered them. they fluked it, day light robbery and ferguson himself said so in the interview after the game. i can't be any clearer...we were miles better than them, they were lucky...very f***ing lucky. we need a goalscorer, its a simple as that.
psl Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Arsenal going to go one point behind us with two games in hand. We need to get a few wins in the league over our next few games.
floyd Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 We lost today, but seeing that drunken b4stard, ala Sheff Wed., brought it home. That cvnt has still got hunger
