Pepe not good enough for a top team

I tend to agree....VdS makes save of the match....2 min later Pepe spils the call in front of goal......Match over and out....

I know he's great compared to what we have seen for a long time.....but he's not anywhere near VdS or Cech.....

that's pure b******s. last week vds dropped a howler himself.

don't think reina was at fault for the goal. He just added another record of longest time at home without conceding today in his short time here.

He's an outstanding keeper.

So how is this rubbish....twice.....??

you wont find better to replace him, didnt even think he was at fault for the goal it was a tough ball in to defend and if anyone was to blame it was the defender that didnt follow the ball in, although there was luck involved as it went straight to a Utd player when it could easily have gone to one of our players in a crowded area.

No....who the f*** would we buy?

hmmm......I think we could get the talented keeper at Charlton pretty cheap

I didn't even think it was an error.

He's a top keeper and is miles better than van der Saar.

The ball should have been cleared first by Finnan who decided not to attack the ball with his head. Unfortunately it spilled away from Pepe and a Man Utd player got a foot on it. We still had plenty of defenders to clear it but it fell right for O'Shea. Our problem is at the other end were we do not take our chances when they arrive.

I have no idea why Finnan was standing around whistling to himself when he should have cleared it not once but twice.

It was a horrible ball to try and collect. There was a manc player right at his feet at the time.

And John O'Shea would probably only bury that chance once if he was there all day trying it.

Sure he did well to keep it out; Saha should have got a touch on it. Very unlucky goal and Carra et al. were a bit slow to react too.

Close this thread, what a load of nonsense, I thought that was a good save from Reina considering the way it bounced and came through about two players. He did best he could, Mancs just got lucky with the run of the ball.

That is just the way it goes, Van de Sar got lucky today and last week against Fulham, Reina didn't.

You mean the one we already have who is English, overrated, the second coming of Shay Given and could sell for more than 10m?

The irony is obvious. Arsenal buy Carson for 5m. He goes on to be the national keeper for the next ten years, winning over every englishmens football heart. And we have Reina...

Yep. Reina'll never be England's No. 1. :(

Reina has played well lately, and to be fair that was a horrible ball into the box. If we'd had someone on the post they might have been able to clear it too. Could have been defended better but we paid for not taking our chances.

I hope the investement means we can buy top quality players rather than settling for some second string players as we've had to lately [insert name of your own personal pet-hates here] because that difference shows in games like this.
