I like the way he puts this:

Bellamy accepts Liverpool days may be numbered

Craig Bellamy accepts his days at Liverpool may be numbered.

Putting the controversy at the Algarve behind him, Bellamy told the Mirror: "Being at Liverpool is everything I've ever wanted.

"The club being successful is more important than my own success. With these Americans coming in, maybe it will put me in a weaker position but the club will move forward.

"So I won't have that bitter thing of thinking 'b******s' if they sell me. I'll be watching the club I supported winning medals."

I very rarely buy the Daily Mirror, but did so this morning after glancing at the back page at the station. I thought it was a good series of articles and to be honest, I can fully appreciate where he's coming from about not wanting all the trappings of being a footie player especially the life under a microscope aspect. The part about only being calm when he's had a few was a bit worrying, especially after his career finishes.

It's funny, but the things which happened in Portugal may have a hugely positive effect on him and the squad.

I like Bellamy

So do I. I like him both as a person and as a player - I think much of our best football this season has been played when he's stretched opposition defences. We're more fluid going forward when Bellamy is in the side.

I'd like to see him here next season regardless of whether we buy a big money striker or not. I'd see Crouch (who I also like) go before him.

Thirded this!

Wonder why Bellamy would even say this to the press, unless there've been hints by Rarfa that he may be shipped out ....

... and that Kaka, Eto'o and Villa are finally coming. :hmm:

Fourthed!!!

I think Bellamy has been our best striker this season. His movement is fantastic and a very clever player. Didn't really like him as a person before we signed him, but have warmed to him a lot. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He's the type of player we need at Anfield if we want number 19 and more trophies.

Its all a bit of a PR exercise though isn't it?

Either that or they have something on him.

I liked the Rush comments though

John, I thought that too. But then I decided I was being overly cynical - if it was a PR exercise, it's a feckin' good one. Genuinely worded and the tone spot on.

btw. did you get my reply e mail re:villa. Your e mail of yesterday only arrived in my inbox this morning

Liverpool's Craig Bellamy has revealed how he "lost control" with team-mate John Arne Riise after a karaoke night on a team bonding trip to Portugal.

Bellamy, 27, confronted Riise with a golf club, but the pair made amends by scoring a goal each in Liverpool's Champions League win against Barcelona.

He told the Daily Mirror: "I lost control for a few seconds.

"John's been great about it really. Straight away next morning we were training together. There's no problem."

Bellamy, who was reportedly fined £80,000 by Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez after the incident, said: "It started when we were all doing a bit of karaoke. I only sang one song and that was Red, Red Wine by UB40.

"That was because Jerzy Dudek was drinking it. That's how silly it all was.

"A lot of the lads wanted Riise to get up there next because he hadn't turned up at the dinner earlier and I tried to get him up, too.

"I wasn't that bothered whether he wanted to sing or not so I sat back down but he wasn't too happy about me trying to get him to sing so he let me know about it.

"The situation was calmed down then but when I was walking back to the hotel with Steve Finnan, who I was rooming with, I lost control for a few seconds.

"I went and confronted 'Ginger' and I said to him 'don't be doing that in front of the players again'.

"And that was really about it. I didn't want to cause a scene in front of everybody else. I just wanted to talk to him about it alone."

So nothing to do with golf clubs at all, unless you normally take your clubs out with you when you go to sing karaoke. Who cares anyway.....it's all lies I tells ya.

Anyway, I think Rafa will want Bellamy fresh for Barcelona, so I see a limited role for him this weekend.

Maybe he just means that he won't be as regular a starter as he has been cos he knows it'll be Eto'o starting ahead of him!! ;)

I think one of the reasons he has done this series of interviews in the Mirror is that they were the paper that were blowing it all out of proportion when the original story broke, he prob just wanted to set the records straight. The comments bout him poss leaving were probably him being asked the question and responding accordingly.

I like the guy, hes a character - OK so he can be a knob off the pitch but you cant blame him for not giving 110% on it. Also he has a smile on his face when he plays, hes enjoying himself and thats infectious in itself

That's right. Some people were comparing him to Cisse in terms of his attitude on the pitch whereas I see it as a night and day difference.

You can't have a team full of Finnans (just an example). You need the hotheaded players with something extra. If you have good manager he can handle it. But sure there's limits what they can do, but we need a bit of swagger in our team as do every team. Cantona is a great example of this.
