when we signed him rafa compared him to patrick vieira. i'd say he's better than vieira myself. his approach to the game is unbelievable. he goes for every ball like his life depends on it.

He's great, I agree. If he improved his passing he'd be brilliant. I also think he should have the ability to get some goals. He sometimes gets into positions to shoot but doesn't.

Momo actually can spot a pass; execution is the problem - very little ball control. He has definitely improved and also now tends to keep the pass simple but consistency is still below par. His phenomenal athleticism and work rate however more than make it up for him. He is still only 22, if he can work out those weaknesses we'll have a heck of a player!!

Why do people trot out the same old s*** about his passing. His passing is ok, not great in the sense that he's gonna send 30 yard passes to feet 10 times a game, but it's nothing like as bad as some on here want us to believe. I don't get why once a player is labeled, it doesn't matter if it beomes utter chit, it's still said as gospel.

I'm sure he can, doesn't mean he's gonna do Xabi-esque passes all through a game. Hardly anyone else on our team does either - maybe none of them can pass either eh!

For me Momo has only one major weakness, the affliction of many young footballers which is concentration.

 

The times he gives the ball away, he's not over-doing it and trying a 50 yard cross-field pass (although he can actually do them), it tends to be a very simple five or ten yard ball under no pressure. It isn't a question of ability, he just loses his concentration and is probably thinking about where he's going to run to next instead of just making sure that first of all the pass reaches it's target.

 

His game is largely about being 100mph non-stop, and that's fine when he's chasing the opposition down; what Momo needs to learn most of all is to slow things down when he has the ball at his feet and just concentrate on giving the ball simple to a red shirt.

 

In terms of his control, I think it's actually surprisingly good - sometimes you'll see him get out of a tight spot with a drag-back, or burst past several players with a nice piece of skill. He may be a destroyer first and foremost but Momo has got far more ability that people give him credit for.

 

I think this is the other main area he can improve - making those bursting runs at the right times into the right areas and getting involved more in attack, because he has the lung capacity and speed over the ground to do it, particularly against lesser opposition when we are looking to take the game to them.

 

One thing is for certain, Momo has massive potential. People compare him and Viera, but it's not as simple as saying who is better than who. I agree with Rafa when he says Momo is better at his age, because I think he's got more natural ability and has a lot more first team experience at the highest level than Viera did until he got to Arsenal. However Viera won his reputation by performing at a consistently high level over years. Momo has turned in some huge performances for us already, but he has to keep doing it to put himself in the same bracket.

 

The lad has clearly got his head screwed on and the kind of down to earth attitude and work ethic which means barring injury he will keep on getting better. With experience, I believe he could become one of the best around and mentioned in the same breath as the other great ball-winners of recent times - which to me means the likes of Gennaro Gattuso, Patrick Viera and Roy Keane.

I echo those sentiments - in fact, I seen a bit of Biscan in him at the start of the season when he would get forward and beat a few men with a bit of a run! Lads a Legend
