MickeyDocs Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Two great young players with hefty price tags and no experience of the premiership. Both would be risks, and neither may succeed. So my question is, which one do we need more, and which one will adapt more readily. Personally I believe we need Villa more, as Torres seems to be as much a creator as a finisher, whereas Villa is an out and out predator with pace, ability and a never say die attitude.
carrafan Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Dont think either warrant the prices that are being touted around, by the media. But Villa warrants it more than what Torres does. Also, Torres drifts in and out of games. Villa tries to keep himself active most of the time. I think Villa is the better bet if we have a choice. Unfortunately, we'll not get either cos Villa isnt for sale and Benitez this Torres is overrated. Hopefully, thats not a threadkiller...
Guest GeCk0 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Isn't there also a problem with Chelsea reportedly handing in an offer to Valencia for Villa to the tune of 45million pounds and that being rejected? If so, there might be a slight problem. Also since Villa said that he's very happy that a team like Chelsea has shown interest in him, he's just a merecenary anyway... SaCK Villa!
Gray - YPC Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Deffo Villa for me. I think he's the real deal.
Benitez Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 anyone wanting Torres ahead of Villa need their head testing, Torres is a showpony.
jfogarty Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Torres is a poser. Not sure that either would hack it in the premier league.
R A Softlad Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Villa signed Torres? I thought the same. I'll edit the title for him.
Nebraska Red Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 whilst either of these players would be a great addition to our squad, and I would go fror Villa, I seriously doubt that either one will be coming to Anfield. even with our new found wealth, if the Chavs come in with an offer that exceeds ours, he will be off to London. also, the Italian clubs will be sniffing around even if their is a slight hint that either of them is available. Juventus will be back in the picture and both Milan teams will be looking to strengthen their teams.
Rich Gobey Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 i do not understand why anyone would think that any player would automatically choose Chelsea over us.
Andy-oh-six Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Villa for me. Balague seems to think that Real Madrid will come in for him as well as Chelsea. He thinks he'd prefer Real as he thinks Spaniards don't like moving abroad.
RafaShanks Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted this a couple of weeks ago comparing Villa, Torres and Eto'o: Torres (22): Years Club App (Gls)* 2000 - Atlético Madrid 159 (68) National team 2003 - Spain 40 (14) [1] Villa (25) : Years Club App (Gls)* 2000?2003 Sporting de Gijon 80 (38)2003?2005 Real Zaragoza 73 (31)2005?current Valencia 57 (34) National team2005?present Spain 19 (9) Eto'o (25): Years Club App (Gls)* 1997-1998 CD Leganés 28 (3)1998-1999 Real Madrid 3 (0)1999-2004 Real Mallorca 133 (54)2004- FC Barcelona 90 (60) National team 1996-Present Cameroon 60 (24) Rafa's been interested in Villa since his Zaragoza days. It's nailed on.
Guest Linton Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I would want Torres. He's the bigger talent and is younger. He is also stronger. What he lack is Villas finishing but at the moment he isn't on fire either so I would go for Torres. He has it all to become a world class striker.
Tetti Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Our own little Cesc ( Villa) please. But Torres for the bench
Stevie H Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 bet you any money we don't sign either of them.
Nebraska Red Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 i do not understand why anyone would think that any player would automatically choose Chelsea over us. it is more a case of choosing the city of London over the city of Liverpool as a place to live in and work.
Swagger Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Torres is a showpony. So I am not the only one who thinks that Torres is very overrated. Does not score anywhere near enough goals for a supposedly world class striker.
RafaShanks Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I'm pretty sure we've never been seriously linked with Torres. He doesn't seem like a Rafa type player? Spanish striker + pretty decent = Rafa must want to sign him
