sbaros Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Barcelona are playing Bilbao tonight Eto'o just scored.. and has been very good tonight Looking likely he wasn't in the squad for something else then football, he's playing a whole lot better then Saviola anyway. We certainly have somthing to be scared about for the second leg
dorgie Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Wary, but not scared. Rafa will know how to approach the 2nd leg.
Jimi Rojo Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Aren't Atletic right down at the bottom of the league - they're s****. I don't know how I'll sleep tonight I'm so fear-ridden......

Doesn't really matter where they are in the league, but considering how s*** Saviola was in the first league, Barca having Eto'o back and looking at his best will certainly improve them a great deal Not saying I think we'll lose it now, but I would have prefered it if the off-field problems had kept on and Saviola or Gudjohnsen would've played the second leg aswell..
Dominus Maximus Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 They should be scared of us... We beat them at their own stadium a few days ago...
FakeNewsBear Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 anyone just see ronaldinho .......................Holy s***

dorgie Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 http://www.d1g.com/video/show/501210 He won't get away with that against Finnan & Carra
Whitey Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 He won't get away with that against Finnan & Carra Methinks he'd be first row of the stands after the first dummy on the touchline.End of....
Nebraska Red Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Barca looked OK, but they were up against a team that was utter rubbish, pretty much on the same level as Sheff U. Barca got way too much room and were hardly ever pressed when they were on the ball. First goal was a poxy own goal, bit like Carragher's in the FA Cup final, the other 2 were nice goals. Toothpick walked thru their defence near the end, but the opposition had basically thrown in the towel. All we need to do is keep a clean sheet for the first 30-45 minutes and their manager will start the panic subs, we will adjust and strike at them. We should be confident of getting the result we need.
_00_deathscar Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I've always wondered. How do you spell Eto'o's? Is it Eto'o's? Or Eto'os'?
R A Softlad Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Barcelona are playing Bilbao tonight Eto'o just scored.. and has been very good tonight Looking likely he wasn't in the squad for something else then football, he's playing a whole lot better then Saviola anyway. We certainly have somthing to be scared about for the second leg Patrick can corect me if I am wrong but I think it's more to do with his fitness level. Because he'd been injured and previously 'refused' to go on as a sub he was not fit for such a big game. He was always going to be for the return at Anfield.
Guest Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 RAS is right - it's all been down to fitness. Eto'o got himself back to what he thought was a decent level of fitness, enough to get him picked for the first team. Unfortunately, after initially agreeing with the player Rijkaard changed his mind and wanted to ease Eto'o back bit by bit. Eto'o's original idea was to be in the first leg - now he's got a game under his belt and will figure again against Zaragoza in the Cup midweek (Barca lost the first leg 0-1 in the Camp Nou) and against Sevilla on Saturday (22.00 CET - Liga decider) - he should be coming back to form for the second leg. I wouldn't go too much on last night's result - as some of the regulars on here have pointed out earlier in the thread - Bilbao have been struggling all year and have one of the worst defences in the Liga.
John am Rhein Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Nothing to be scared about. At all. Correct. We're gonna tw*t the b*stards!
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Pat, do Barca ever stray from 4-3-3 ? Given the tactical victory by Rafa, it would be easier to contain Barca if Rafa set them up to counter a 4-3-3 formation rather than a variation (if Rijkaard ever uses them). I prefer to see Ronaldinho operating through the middle as he can hurt teams more then and see lots of the ball, is there a chance he could be deployed there ? I was thinking that a variation for Barca for the Liverpool game could be Valdes ....Thuram..Puyol...Marquez ...............Motta............... ....Xavi.................Deco... ...............Ronaldinho......... Giuly........Eto'o.........Messi I rarely watch La Liga so the above is just from seeing Barca in the last 3 games and a possible variation of formation for Liverpool. From what I can see is that Barca like to play ball through the middle and only really use the width in the last 3rd via Giuly and Ronaldinho so sacrificing full backs could be a plausible variation from an attacking point of view and also they are not the strongest defensively.
_00_deathscar Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 If we actually had Kewell fit and Gerrard on the flanks, they would get absolutely MURDERED with that formation. That's like what Mourinho tried against us (no full backs, no real wing backs) in the FA Cup semi and Kewell was having a field day...
Guest Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Rijkaard would rather strengthen the midfield than put more emphasis on attack. Guily would be an option -I think that Rijkaard will play Gudjohnsen if Eto'o doesn't start. Rijkaard has often been found out when they have to fight for a result - Relying on Ronaldinho and Iniesta to open spaces through the middle with the sole intention of earning a free-kick for the Brazilian near the area will not get far if Carra and Agger are on form. He'll play Motta (his pet player) in the middle alongside Xavi. Thurnam is carrying an injury and is not 100% fit. Marquez is going through a sticky patch atm. Oleguer is a disaster. Will be interesting to see how he lines up against Zaragoza in the King's Cup - they are a goal down and playing at Zaragoza. I think he'll stick with 4-3-3 against Sevilla and us but possibly play 3-4-1-2 against Zaragoza - with Eto'o and Messi up front and Ronnie slotted in behind with orders to run at their defence.
