I can't figure it out. They've got a decent manager. On paper they have a good team. Not world beaters, but not too shabby. No huge injury problems. Did well last year.

It's wierd. I would have thought they are a mid table team at least.

Lack of stability.

The vibes coming from magnusson have been damaging from the start. From him sitting in the stand shaking his head and stamping his feet, to him backing a manager and then sacking him, panic buying players, never being out of the newspapers with his opinions.

Compare and contrast with our board.

Its a clique ridden s***pit by the look of it, most of their players are overrated anyway and s*** signings like Nigel Quashie, Boa Morte (Used to be good to be fair) arent going to help at all.

I can't recall where I read it so it may be poppycock, but is it true that Eggert isn't the main financial backer of the deal and is just the chairman because the real man had a checkered past?

Pathetic showing today. An absolutely vital game and they fly the white flag after the first goal. Gutless.

hardly surprising given the man in charge.

Charlton where always a real soft club when he was manager.

Seemed to have gone from their roots into billy big boys without the talent. Shame when you thought about the players they developed and/or bought from lower leagues. Now it appears to be splash the cash. Looks like they're royally screwed. Oh well Neill and Upson will have spent today counting their wages....oh and double checking their get out clauses!

1) The Tevez & Mascherano deals - the shadiness of it all, making their bling players think they were about to become Chelsea II, putting the noses of good pro players out of joint and mainly because the manager seemed to have no say in the transfers.

2) The bling players - getting Bentleys and becoming big-time Charlies.

3) Sacking Pardew far too early.

4) Bringing in Curbishley - a good manager of a decent family club playing above their limits. He'll be ideal to take over from Gradi. He's no Red Adair though.

5) The players brought in to save them - having poor injury records, escape clauses and obviously only there for the huge money.

the success they had last year in getting to the Cup Final went to their heads.

they have not realised that it takes a different kind of footy to survive in the PL.

they have no scrappers, their defence is lightweight and they still live in that mythical land of "West Ham play beautiful footy."

they need a couple of seasons in the lower leagues to get themselves straightened out and put together a balanced team.

the only problem will be if their owners go bonkers and then they risk doing a Nottingham Forest and skidding down even further.

NR. Are you anywhere near Gothenburg? My mate lives there and has been on to me to come and see the golf course he built there. I'm thinking about doing it when I am at Sand Hills and Dismal River.

no, I live in Omaha about 242 miles east of Gothenburg.

we have passed through that place a few times when heading out west. their big claim to fame is the Pony Express Station and some decent places to eat.

i have heard there are some good golf courses out there, right now they are snowmobile trails.
