Dominus Maximus Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 (edited) Down Memory Lane Double Agents Meet the Referee ==================================================================================================== I'd go with this: ----------------Reina-------------------- ------Carra-----Hyppia----------Agger Finnan------------------------------Riise ---------------Gerrard-Alonso---------- Bellamy--------Crouch---------Kuyt---- Strong in defence and midfield. 3 guys up front for counter and long balls... Bring it home... Edited February 20, 2007 by Kev
John am Rhein Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 How is 2 in midield strong? Surely we need Sissoko in there? Is he fit?
dorgie Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 3 guys up front for counter and long balls... Teams who set out to play on the counter generally play 1 up front, with one or two fast midfielders to join them. I can't see Rafa playing Crouch, Bellamy & Kuyt in the Nou Camp.
Stevie H Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 why the f*** is everybody changing to 3-5-2 for a one-off match? leave it alone ffs.
CaptainXabi Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 CaptainXabi's key to success: Put Momo up front.
Guest ziggystardust Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 i think it would be suicidal not to play momo xabi and stevie, packing out the midfield in the away leg. I do think we need to find a place for bellamy for his pace as well or we will be dragged further and further back as the match progresses.
Guest Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 leave it alone ffs. Exactly what Guerdian said to Hilter about the Panzer arm. Hitler ignored him and we know how that ended. Barcelona are dangerous if given space and time in the centre of the pitch. I can see Momo be given the job of blocking Javi.
Guest kring Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 ------------Pepe-----------Finnan-Carra-Agger-RiisePennant-Momo-xabi-Gerrard-----Crouch-----Kuyt--------- Need a strong midfield.....need to guys strong in the air up front and need as much speed we can get in the back.....No doubt in my mind this will be close to Rafa's team sheet! He could switch Pennant with Speedy and maybe Riise with Arbeloa......
RafaShanks Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 ----------------Reina-------------------- Alves------Carra-----Agger------Chivu Gerrard----Xabi------Mascha------Ribery -------------Villa---------Kuyt-------------

psl Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Think Aurelio will be left back with Riise in front of him.
McBain Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Think Aurelio will be left back with Riise in front of him. Aye. That's how i would go as well ReinaFinnanCarraAggerAurelioGerrardXabiMomoRiiseBellamyKuyt
Logic Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 really cant see tha causing barca the slightest of problems... defo a 0-0 encounterI wouldn't be surprised if Rafa would be pleased with a 0-0 result from the first leg. With that set up we keep it tight in defence with two fast wingers to hit Barca on the counter attack. Maybe put Bellamy/Kuyt in instead of Crouch though. Then at home play with three up front and blitz them.
Ronnie Whelan Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Aye. That's how i would go as well ReinaFinnanCarraAggerAurelioGerrardXabiMomoRiiseBellamyKuyt Two up front? Im not so sure.
Dominus Maximus Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 Crouch needs to play. Puyol wouldn't know what hit him...
abc Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I think the idea of playing with a back 3/back 5 against Barca is good. Crouch/Kuyt and Bellamy up front would give variety in our play, while allowing Gerrard to play with freedom, getting ahead of the forwards and going into wide positions, knowing that Xabi and Momo are behind him. Crouch needs to play. Puyol wouldn't know what hit him... Think he handled Crouchy pretty well in the internationals last week.
Clay Davis Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Aye. That's how i would go as well ReinaFinnanCarraAggerAurelioGerrardXabiMomoRiiseBellamyKuytditto.
Conor Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Crouch needs to play. Puyol wouldn't know what hit him...Did Puyol play against England at Old Trafford? I think he will play Kuyt up on his own with Stevie ploating around him when needed. It's a shame King Luis isn't available. This game is made for him.
Romario Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Aye. That's how i would go as well -------------ReinaFinnan--Carra--Agger--AurelioGerrard--Xabi--Momo--Riise--------Bellamy-Kuytperfect!
Clay Davis Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Two up front? Im not so sure.lol, think of kuyt as more of a defensive midfielder.....
fred milne Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 ReinaFinnanCarraAggerAurelioGerrardXabiMomoRiiseBellamyKuytThat looks good to me.
Ronnie Whelan Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 lol, think of kuyt as more of a defensive midfielder..... A Maldiniesque sweeper.
Ronnie Whelan Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I have been excited about this match since the draw was made, but just in case you didnt realise, Its on this Wednesday.
