Glad to see Rafa calls him regularly. wonder if his recent form this season will lead rafa to rethink his future with us.

At the worst we should get a decent price for him now, depending on how long he has left on his contract. either way im happy for the fela, always liked him and felt he should have got more of a run in the side.

Liverpool striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle is pleased with his loan spell at Recreativo de Huelva, but is unsure whether he will be making a permanent switch.

The Frenchman left Anfield in the summer to try his luck for the season with newly-promoted La Liga outfit Recre and has really caught the eye with his performances in Spain.

Indeed, like his club - who sit seventh in La Primera challenging for a European place - Sinama-Pongolle has proved one of the revelations of the Spanish season, netting seven goals to date.

He is just three behind the club's record top-flight haul (10 by Raul Molina), and has achieved that without being a regular starter in recent weeks.

Having been restored to Recre's starting line-up last weekend, he duly obliged with the second goal in a 2-1 home win over Villarreal and insists he has no problems with manager Marcelino's selection policy.

"If I have not been in the starting XI for the last few weeks it's because of the competition we have here," he explained.

"Here you have to wait for your opportunity and I hope to have demonstrated to the coach that he can count on me."

The 22-year-old is more than happy with life in Spain but remains cautious about the prospect of a permanent move from Liverpool.

Indeed, he remains in close contact with Reds boss Rafa Benitez who is maintaining a close eye on his progress.

"I am happy here, but my future depends on an agreement between Recre and Liverpool," he continued.

"We don't know what will happen because I understand two businessmen have just bought Liverpool.

"Everything depends on whether the ball keeps going in the net."

Of Benitez, he added: "He always rings me when I score and asks me how I am. We get on well and he gives me advice"

Interesting that... wonder what he means by it.

I don't know...it's a mystery

Perhaps he thinks that if he keeps scoring, Rafa will want to give him another go for Liverpool.

I think he does show some real promise and is worth holding on to but his 1st team chances might be limited here.

i think with the americans coming in and now we have money to splash on a big money star his chances are v limited, but id rather him on the bench than robbie i think. for footballing reasons purely.

I'd rather have Pongolle on the bench than alot of strikers. He can be a great asset off the bench (Olympiakos and Luton which was the difference in getting through) with tiring defenders and offers something different but is not the same from the start. I think he could be a bit of a super sub for us but whether he'd be content with that (and he wouldn't be guaranteed a place on the bench) is another thing. He burnt his bridges aswell coming out with that crap about Everton.

Never liked him since he came out with that s**** about never meeting any Liverpool fans from Liverpool. It sounded like typical Kenwright bulls*** as if he was being tapped up by our bitter cousins.

Well I just think it would be very unlike Rafa to say "Score 10 goals and you can play for us next season", don't you?

i would imagine that he sets a number that he expects the strikers and midfielders to score, the players can workout if they are staying or not based their numbers and other performance measures at the end of the season

On the other hand, the more he scores, the more Heulva will be happier to pay for him.

Would be more useful to us than Fowler at the moment.

Harsh, sad and most probably true.

Pongolle was unlcuky to be off loaded again this season.

Does the forum think that players signed by Houllier need to produce 'more' than the players Benitez has signed himself ?
