Olympiacos' home stadium, the Karaiskaki stadium, has 21 empty black seats, which will forever remain empty in memory of the 21 who died (see the other thread about gate 7)

Could this be an idea for the new stadium..? To have 96 empty black seats and keep these seats empty until justice is done?

Here's a pic borrowed from RAWK, which shows the 21 seats in the Karaiskaki Stadium:

Surely you could fit 60'096 seats into a stadium instead of 60'000.... it's a matter of WANTING to do this, more than it's a matter of money...

Will the current memorial be moved to the new ground or will it remain in the new area which is going to be a park isn't it?

Oh and yes the seats are a great idea (but I doubt it will happen).

i know this will go against the popular mood about this - but quite honestly i can't think of anything worse. i go the match to enjoy myself. i don't want a constant reminder of that day. i don't want to be sat next to an empty seat so all I think is that could have been my mate. imo, this idea is morbid and depressing. we have the memorial, which as far as i know is getting moved to the new stadium, that's enough for me and we have the HJC to fight for justice, which i'm more than happy to support.

with all due respect

i agree.

Great idea, but I guess the seats would be needed to be surrounded by ST holders etc to ensure the "uneducated" didn't try to sit on them. :hmm:

I agree with that.

I see your points but I still feel we should be doing everything in our power to raise awareness about Hillsborough - not leave it all to the HJC... In regards to morbid or nor, did you find the singing morbid when we played Arsenal..?

You're entitled to your opinion and all, I'm just trying to get some more details...

agree with js.

Another option could be to have 96 different coloured seats, as they do with the sponsors logo, or have the names of the 96 on 96 seats like they do with park benches.

Will there be more than 96 corporate boxes?

Each box has to have an identifier anyway. They could have photo's from happier times on the walls, celebrating their lives rather than just mourning their death.

Each box holder could get in touch with the relatives, thereby having a meaningful relationship with the core of the club, rather than being (purely) prawn sandwich brigade. Once these (frequently influential) people hear the individual stories, the Justice campaign could get some powerful voices.

Just a thought.

I agree with JS. I dont think we should have 96 empty seats, but perhaps something less 'out there' kind of thing. Perhaps a subtle touch to the stadium... 96 burning flames around the top... or perhaps just 96 painted flames around some of the directors boxes.

Could also have another 39 named after those that died at Heysel, again with photos celebrating their lives.

Yeah but they're not directly linked to our stadium are they? I think that should be done at Heysel...
