Phil236849 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 rafa previously said he thought about it and rates him very highly. we need another CB and he is top rate. whilst boro have agreed terms (reported to be 6m - not prohibitive) with real, woodgate has distanced himself and said he'll need to think in the summer....
Romario Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Funny that I thought that this morning. Carra, Agger and Woodgate for the future. Even with his injuries we'd still have cover.
IgPig Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 He's far too cheap a defensive guard and we're too storied to be after him.

The Hitman Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 He's a great player, best English centre-half.£6m would be daylight robbery, and we've got more than enough quality cover.
_00_deathscar Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Is Kewell not enough? Are the physios getting bored or something?
johngibo YPC Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I thought that when i saw his interview. He's defo keeping his options open. I think he is very good _00_deathscar said: Is Kewell not enough? Are the physios getting bored or something? Only missed 2 games all season to be fair
Molby Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 he's already been rejected on medical grounds, or he'd be a Liverpool player right now if he was able to pass a medical for us, he'd be worth £10m plus IMO - terrific prospect, although carries a bit of baggage

I thought this yesterday when Real made their statement. Wouldn't be a bad signing, he's back to old form again.
KD07 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Surely we can afford to pay the gypsies to f*** off now?
Rimbeux Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I think he's keeping his options open, very telling statements
AE Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Rafa - "Prove your fitness and you can join the European Champions in the Summer" Just guess the year

Extraordinary Swindle Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Rimbeux said: I think he's keeping his options open, very telling statementsI agree.Real clearly want rid - the "everything is agreed" faux pas was typical of them. "I'll have to wait until the summer and see if Real want me." - i.e. Woodgate is going to take them to the cleaners in terms of paying off his contract and he's not exactly jumping for joy at the prospect of staying at Middlesbrough.Real try a new tact - "We hope everything will be agreed in the summer". If Liverpool want him. Rafa will probably offer them a packet of Tangy Cheese Doritos and that lad recently signed from Depor (Arbeloa?) with the buy back option on Arbeloa of a packet of Extreme Chilli Doritos. Whether the crisps/chips will be branded Doritos or Frito Lay is yet to be decided.
G Richards Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Woodgate would be an excellent signing for us. He obviously has had more than his fair share of fitness problems, but this past season has been important for him. If he can get through the rest of the campaign relatively unscathed, then he will have proben his fitness. His ability has never been in question to the discerning. On a related note, they did a bit on Woodgate late the other night (I think on the John Barnes football show). They had the Middlesborough Chairman on there and he was under no doubts that they would have their work cut out to retain Woodgate over the summer. He was hoping the home town thing would carry a lot of weight, but he seemed to be preparing their fans for a Woodgate exit IMO. Rafa is known to have been in for the player before, but we couldn't compete with Real in terms of price. As it turns out, we dodged the bullet there since he has had a horrendous couple of years. But if he can prove his fitness this season (and he's well on the way to that) then he would be a great signing, especially at £6M.
RafaShanks Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I thought the same when I heard his comments after Madrid announced the supposed deal. He'd be perfect for us and £6m is a ridiculous bargain.
floyd Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 (edited) I'd buy him, to just piss off that Gibson at Boro Edited February 6, 2007 by floyd

Swagger Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 floyd said: I'd buy him, to just piss off that Gibson at Boro That too. Why would Real be looking to offload him just when he is starting to get back the form he had when they paid so much for him? Real do seem to have no sense.
