So Cal Red Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 i have a mate who keeps taking the mickey out of Crouch... needless to say, it REALLY TICKS ME OFF! Crouch is one of my favorite players in the league (not just our team)... i think he does so much for the team, clicks really well w/ everyone, & scores his fair share of goals too... anyhow, i've decided to keep my idiot mate notified of Crouch's progress by keeping tabs on him for the remainder of the season... i know that after today, Crouch will have scored 13 goals in 32 appearances (includes 11 as a sub) - which is very good, imo. plus 11 goals in 16 appearances (includes 6 as a sub) for England (not that i care much about them)... can anyone help out w/ how many ASSISTS Crouch has so far (in all competitions for Liverpool this season) please? thanks!!
Hassony Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Crouch is one of my favorite players in the league (not just our team)you have many favorite players from outside our team
So Cal Red Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 you have many favorite players from outside our team haha, of course not - Alonso, Carra, Garcia, Gerrard, Kuyt, etc are also on that list!
Leo No.8 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I said about a week ago that I consider Crouch to be a great finisher. To the several people who disagreed with me, I hope you were watching the slow motion replays of Crouch demonstrating perfect technique and composure yet again this season in the execution of his goal tonight. I'll say it again - Crouch is a great finisher. Not just a good finisher, a great finisher.

Guest Banjo Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 If you're going to keep track of his goals/game ratio, you also need to keep a log of his Andy Cole 'five chances to score one goal' ratio and count the number of headers he misses. Reasonably good player - not great, but not crap either.
Guz Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 He's our top scorer isn't he? He may not be a 'great' player (there arent that many of them around) but I think this season he has proven his worth to the squad.

Guest Scot Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 the in-laws were telling me at Christmas that he was 'just awful'. Bluenoses know absolutely f*ck all.
difs.oner Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Just lerarn to head the ball I'll be happy.
hideNseek Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I wouldn't bother mate, he could score a hat trick every game and some would still say he was crap.
Dule Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Thats it, from the start of next season i will be keeping a detailed stats website for everyone to see. From involvement in goals, to pass completion. f*** Opta stats i say. Only thing is i will need a few people to compare stats with for every game so we can get more accurate results.
L19red Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 he misses too many chances to be classed as a great finisher. He is a good player, but not a great one. remember blackburn away?

Leo No.8 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Christ Almighty. He missed a few against Blackburn away, but in general this season Crouch been taking an absolutely exceptional proportion of his chances. Give him the ball at his feet around the area and a yard of space and he's as good as anyone around at the moment. He's our top scorer despite being hauled off after an hour or sitting on the bench for quite a few. It amazes me how many people haven't got a f*cking clue about Crouch because they still can't see past how tall he is. It's f*cking embarrassing.

Did well tonight though and he combined a good performance with a good goal rather than one or the other as he has recently.
ManxRed Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Just lerarn to head the ball I'll be happy. And not straight at the keeper either!

Leo No.8 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Of course you'll find even more examples of frankly appaling finishing. Go on then. For perfect technique this season (just of the top of my head) I give you Galatasaray, Bolton, Watford, West Ham both home and away. I could also mention a good few England games since the end of last season - his perfectly executed spin and shot against Jamaica for example. So apart from the Blackburn game please do give me some examples of his 'frankly shocking finishing'. I love the way people think this is true because he's so tall (so surely he must be sh*t), but then actually find that it isn't when they try to think of examples.

Goals, assists and 2nd assists (example, a through ball from Gerrard for Pennant who crosses for Crouch to score if you know what I mean). Edited January 31, 2007 by Logic

Kenny Dalglish is a great player, so is Ian Rush, and John Barnes and Sammi Hyppia. Crouch is a good player but he has got a long way to go before should be ranked alongside the greats that have played for this club.
