Throwing a TV in a swimming pool

I remember seeing a documentary with some rock band (I think it was The Who) talking about their habit of throwing a TV off the balcony and into a swimming pool. They said the whole point was that it had to still be plugged in and switched on when it hit the water.

 

I was just thinking what would happen as it hit the water as water and electricity don't tend to mix very well. I've looked on Youtube but I cannot find any video which would satisfy my curiosity - can anyone help?
