Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Well what do people think the team will be ? Reina Finnan Carra Hyypia Riise Pennant Gerrard Alonso Aurelio Kuyt Bellamy ?? I am also interested in how people think this game will pan out. I have not seen anything of West Ham but I do know of their predicament and losing streak, but they have managed to up their game and beat the Gunners and Mancs so if they have the fire in their belly for this one it could be tricky. Do people think we will go and play our game and dominate from the start or will we have to battle through to the 60th-70th minute at possibly 0-0 or 1-1 and then impose our game and nick a draw. Against Watford away it was an easy one to call, we were going to have to battle for maybe 15-20 mins and then impose our game and see little resistance but for those that have seen West Ham, will we nick a win or will we go out their and dominate them and control from an early stage. ? Massive game, as they all are from here on in

Swagger Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Reina Finnan Carra Hyypia Riise Pennant Gerrard Alonso Aurelio Kuyt Bellamy I'd go with that, except Riise and Aurelio the other way round.
beejay Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 That ref Atkinson was f****awful for the arsenal league cup game. Gave them every decision going. I was hoping we wouldn't get him again let alone for a tough away game like this

Andy @ Allerton Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 One thing is for sure This is a must win. A draw and we might as well forget the season A win and the pressure is still on

Guest DanTheDaggerman Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 BBC reporting that Neill and Ashton are out of the game. I didn't realise Ashton was that close to coming back.
G Richards Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I'm glad Neill isn't playing. This will be a tricky game. West Ham are a bigger and better team than their league position suggests. If they are up for it (and history shows they are usually up for it against the better sides) then we will do very well to get out of there with all three points. After the euphoria of beating Chelsea, this is a real test. If that victory gave us any glimmer of hope for the title (it probably didn't, but for the more optimistic people it did!) then it's imperative that it is built on. 14 games to go. I don't think we can afford to drop any points if we want to win the league, and there will be tougher tests than this one to come. Man Utd have an easy game against Watford as well. It's vital we win to have any hope of exerting any pressure on them by the time we play them. Anything less than 9 points against West Ham, Everton and Newcastle and the title is gone IMHO. We'll see what we're made of. I'm predicting a steely away win. 2-1 with Gerrard and Kuyt to score.

Bulls*** aside, hype aside, we HAVE to win tonight for there to be a glimmer of hope of catching the top 2 3 points and the momentum continues to build and then we can see if Rafa rotation policy will give us the edge, fitness wise, over the top 2 over next 3-4 months.
Huyton_Red Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Massive Physiological boost tonight if we win, if we do want to keep the pressure up on the top two this is arguably the first time this season when they will see us coming up on the rails if we win 2 and 8 points, granted with a game in hand for them tommorow, makes things very interesting
Andy @ Allerton Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Must remember to cancel my trip to Barcelona if we don't win tomorrow In the league I meant It's obvious that we're going to walk the Champions League and bring number 6 rolling home

Toni Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Well what do people think the team will be ? Reina Finnan Carra Hyypia Riise Pennant Gerrard Alonso Aurelio Kuyt Bellamy ?? think that s the best current 11. not that it can be too different at the moment with all the injuries.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 I was also curious on the odds on Bellamy - but knowing my luck Crouch will start with Kuyt
lfc003 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 wonder if Rafa will tell Bellamy to attack from the left like Cisse done last season
Guest wezza Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I would defo attack McCartny as he seems to be struggling, and Curbishley has banished Konchesky to the bench. If we keep the ball down tonight we should be ok, our pace and movement should cause their backline serious problems. And Stevie G and Xabi should have their midfield in their pockets, as long as we are up for a battle.
Bootle Buck Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 We have had 10 days since our big win against Chelsea. The lads should be chomping at the bit. Rafa has mentioned in the press how he wants 6 points from the next two games so I am sure he will have the lads fired up. I nice early goal would really help us settle and dictate the game as we did against Watford and Charlton. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the three strikers starting tonight with Bellamy pushing out wide.
