Figaro Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 LFC have approached his agent and offered the player double what he's earning at Sevilla CF atm - his buy out clause is ?10 million (part of his signing on deal was that the clause would remain low so that he could leave when he wanted to). His agent also said that there has been interest from Lyon. Poulsen said that he and his wife are extremely happy in Sevilla for the time being.
baja the hut Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 he any good? have liverpool made offers for any others in spain? apologies for the follow up question...
alias75 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Before Interesting, its clear then, (given the Mascherano link) that Rafa wants another holding midfielder which you could interpret as him still seeing Gerrard playing not in central midfield all the time. I think especially away from home its important to have that strong defensive setup, in many of the games we've lost we've been holding our own but the first goal has killed us, i could definitely see us playing a 4-2-3-1 away from home with Alonso and another out and out holding midfielder as the 2. From an attacking standpoint we've also struggled and while Gerrard is doing a great job with Xabi at the moment id like to see him playing without any real defensive duties so he can focus entirely on scoring and creating (his natural energy will mean he still tracks back etc..)
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Too bad. He's brilliant. Like Hamann with greater passing vision. We've scored 28 goals in the past 12 games. I think we're past that hurdle.

Fair point but i was thinking more about games against the other big sides where we've struggled to create chances. If you look at the games we've lost this year the vast majority we've scored 0 we haven't lost games 2-1 or 3-2 we've lost them 1-0 or 2-0, when we are creating lots of chances the goals flow but against the top sides and sometimes away from home we dont create enough.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I think it's much better for our attacking game to have Gerrard in the centre. It gives us another attacking midfielder on the right. Momo doesn't offer anyway near as much as Gerrard does from the centre.

Momo doesn't offer anyway near as much as Gerrard does from the centre. I just think its a question of numbers, against weaker opposition when we're dominating and they have 10 men behind the ball fair enough we dont need 2 holding type midfielders in there (i wouldnt class Momo as a holding midfielder by the way) but for certain games especially away from home we've seen that if Gerrard's making those runs from the middle we are vunerable against good sides that counter attack well. Having the 2 holding players in there gives us more protection, and formation wise we have 4 players who's primary job is to attack, away from home especially we dont get those numbers forward often enough. Its all about options for Rafa, we've seen Stevie and Xabi work very well in certain types of games and then in other types of games it doesnt work, you cant approach every opposition the same way.
AnfieldCop Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Any news about our friend, Mr. Alves, Figaro ? I watched him on telly again on Saturday, and he is allways brilliant. Really hope we'll sign him in the summer

At Stamford Bridge we created a hatful of chances - far more than Chelsea - and I recall we also had more goal attempts than Man U in that game. Our problem has been in taking the chances. Similarly at Bolton away and Blackburn away - we had enough chances in each game to have scored 4-5 goals. Sloppy finishing and an element of bad luck cost us dearly
Leo No.8 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Any news about our friend, Mr. Alves, Figaro ? I watched him on telly again on Saturday, and he is allways brilliant. Really hope we'll sign him in the summer Alves is boss, he'd be hugely popular here. Unfortunately his price will only have gone up from what we weren't willing to pay last summer on the back of his performances this season...

Shame that, 10m for Poulsen would have been really good business. Edited January 22, 2007 by Swagger
Jarg Armani Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 poulsen said no, i don't think so, have you heard of the anny road aggro?
Guest WaltonRed Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Shame that, 10m for Poulsen would have been really good business. 10m euros Figaro said which would be about 6.5-7m pounds which would be excellent value. Ive always liked him,was quality in the bundesliga and now he's proving he can play aswell. Good player, really underated.
Bjarkinn Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 f***, i would have liked that 10m euros is a a bargain for him. He has been playing very well this season
Silencio Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 That would be amazing bussiness. He is the key to Sevilla's drastic improvement from last season.

Figaro's latest thoughts on any potential Alves move are in this thread in the general forum mate "It's between Barca and us unless Sevilla CF win the Liga - then he just might be persuaded by Del Nido to see out a further year or two" http://www.ynwa.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=117386
Eiler99 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Danish tv is reporting today that a big European club has been in contact with Poulsen's agent. Probably us, or someone else has seen his qualities too.
Magic8Ball Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 well for me it would be great to get Poulsen, Mascherano and Alves we would then be able to play 433 and sweep all before us
Kopite_Colin Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 well for me it would be great to get Poulsen, Mascherano and Alves we would then be able to play 433 and sweep all before us Balague mentioned on Saturday night on Sky that Poulson had been approached just 3 hours before the game with a 10m Euro offer from an unnamed club still in the last 16 of the CL. He speculated as to who it could be : BAyern (if Man U were signing Hargreaves) and Man U, is they hadn't managed to to buy Hargeaves. Either way, he said Poulson had decided to stay.
Guest Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 We aproached Poulsen's agent a month ago. I've been told Del Nido schat himself when he found out and has been trying to get the player to accept a higher buy out clause ever since. LFC, Lyon and Inter are the clubs that have talked to his agent according to Del Nido.
